Brrrrrrrrrr

November 1 has come again
it’s hard to believe
except for the chill that’s here
I shan't roll up my sleeve.

In fact I’ll put on extra togs
three layers, maybe more
before I venture away from here,
before I hit the door.

And I advise you, sure, dear friend
before you hit this town,
to bring your mukluks, Arctic fur
or you will sport a frown.

Of course, if you’re one poet friend
who’s facing 10 below
it might be you would wear a suit
for swimming to and fro.

For this might be a heat wave
compared to winter’s there
where you live just south of Nome
with ptarmigans in your lair.

But as for me, I tell you this,
my long-johns comfort well
save for my toes in ‘cryllic socks
so cold, they’re far from swell.

I'm sure you'll find some tempting lines
From Toe or Balladeer,
They'll tell about, I have no doubt,
Of how warm they are in here.

Keep closed your coat from those old goats,
They'll offer themselves to you.
Trust only me to set you free
From your freezing blues.

heh - That oughta ace those two scalawags...

Your poem was nicer than mine, but I had to reply in poetry nevertheless.

I knew one of the muckateers would have to make a comment about your long-johns! haha

I myself was thinking of LJ and thought how fortunate for you to have more than one! LOL

Enjoyed this---but now my teeth won't stop chattering! Brrrrrr

BRRR! and I think it was just as cold in Denver last night as it was in Fairbanks!
But I still enjoy these seasonal changes.

Ha! Logs, smogs...we have more (use) for the latter than the former. But lo! It is cool here today...well, cool-ER...I guess heats relative, huh...wish I was there, but not in 10 below - at least not in the wintertime...

Neat...

I'm sitting here in my sweat suit shivering. It's cold! It's probably 45 outside and that's bad for November. I can't imagine what January will be like .I like your poem, I just don't like Winter.

What a fun poem, Virginia...
Its freezing here also... and it snowed today.
Lots of lake effect snow off Lake Michigan, but none of it stuck...
still, there was a beautiful snowy sky
Thanks for sharing your chills with us

Yeah, I found out a poem about -10 degrees was of another time. It has been in the 40's in Alaska. Last week here, our temperatures were approaching 80, this week in the low teens for the lows and high 30's for the highs. Such an abrupt change is hard to acclimate to.I wonder often if someone out there has found a way to control the weather...a lower case someone, not an upper case Someone. He can control everything, should He choose.

Long droughts, heat or cold always cause me to wonder such things.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
