I rewrote my 40-line poem,
The MAGIC MIRROR,
and turned it into a sonnet.

~~~***~~~
My grandma's antique dresser,
It had a magic mirror,
And I became a princess
When into it I'd peer.
I gazed into the mirror
And a castle came to view,
Tall turrets reaching upward
To the skies so clear and blue.
'Twas in this magic kingdom,
That my charming prince did rule,
Some day he'd take me out of
My world so cold and cruel.
He'd charge forth and carry me,
To a land where I'd be free.
~~~***~~~

Robert ~

How do you take your tea? Would you
like some of my homemade chocolate chip
cookies to go with it?

Thank you for the "nice" reply!

(smiles) Oh Linda, this is gorgeous, sweet friend, I could envision you standing in your grandmother's house looking at your reflection in her mirror and all her favorite pictures hanging beside the rim of it! (kiss on cheek) Yay, I love this, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Lyra ~

I toast ye, queen of munks and PiPs,
I raise my glass and take three sips,
Each one's a wish I make for you,
May each wish and dream come true!

I wish you health and happiness,
Look into grandma's looking glass,
For there  you'll see, so strong and bold,
You writing til you're very old.

Noah ~

My grandma's antique dresser was made of ebony. It had a huge, and magnificent, tilt mirror. There were real ivory pulls on the drawers. I would whirl and twirl in front of that mirror, pretending that I was a princess. My sister now has the dresser, and I still have my moments! tehe

Why, thank you very much. I hadn't written a sonnet in years and thought I'd give it a whirl. I agree with you, the cadence of this genre is comforting. Almost melodic. Many in this forum are gifted "sonneteers" (is there such a word? hehe) and I admire their skill at writing them---Sir Sigh comes to mind!

Thanks for reading and replying!

Linda, may you always have ~those moments~ just as you gave back to us a memory of long ago. Haven't we all pretended such...and forgotten a very precious part of childhood....

I'd go look in my mirror right now, but, realistically it is too early in the morning, and late in life,  for that! All I'd see in this chapter in my life is my mother looking back at me! And, my  Aunt Zade and kinda like my Aunt Carrie....amazing how we grow to look like those 'old people' we fondly remember so well! (smiling).

With warm regards,
Pat

Well, you elicited a few great big guffaws out of me with your highly humorous reply!.............I just broke out into gales of laughter again!

You're a dear one! No matter what may be reflected back in that mirror (and I have a feeling that it's much better than you imply!)---you're absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

~ May your day be filled with beauty and laughter!

I understand Balladeer still dresses up like a princess or a queen sometimes....and like you, can write a pretty nice sonnet sometimes....I've tried to write them before...and my last line is always the same...."Pissonnet"

Linda, you brought back a few memories of mine, too. I could just see my Grandmother's antique mirror that I used to gaze in. I don't see what I used to anymore either, though. Thank God Gary likes what he sees!!!
Lovely poem, sweet Linda. Thanks.

Donna ~

I would love to have a cup of tea with you, and it could do the trick of getting rid of your headache!

If you lived close by, I could have used some
of the techniques and therapies that I use in my healing practice.----reflexology, reiki, therapeutic touch, aromatherapy, shiatsu, ear candling, etc.
They are highly effective! I've had to use them on myself this past year to avoid two operations from a serious fall a year ago. So far, so good!
