Was the night, so dark, so dreary
before the moon of Halloween.
Not a sight now ever so cheery
nor a breeze once very serene.

Twas the dead’s time to arise
upon the moon of full in hue.
Certainly a fright, and surprise
for the faint of heart to review

Walking hands and talking heads
and fangs and eyes of evil sight.
All the things of nightmare dreads
upon the dusk of Hallow’s night.

Quaking tombs and curdling howls
from the depth of dirt orange clay.
Coming from the churning bowels
where the monsters come to play.

Whispers telling tales of bloody gore
and screams that echo dark stone halls.
Birds of black Raven’s Nevermore
that come to peck upon the walls.

See the soil that stirs of it’s own
without the help of shovel’s blade.
Fingers without flesh, whitest bone.
Digging till the ribs are displayed.

Pumpkins orange with flickering light
that cast a shadow into the gloom.
Lighting the way into the flight
of wicked witches upon brooms.

Come to the door where light displays
warmth and safety by glowing fire.
Have no fear, for Halloween plays
on your minds only once a year.

Bwahhahahahahaaaaaaaa!

(shivers at edge of seat) That's right, it only comes knocking once a year...OR DOES IT? (smiles) This is wonderfully cryptic, sweet friend, I love the spooks in this, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

This poem of dark and dreary nite
Mortifies and fills with fright
My jaw is slack, my eyes are wide
I have a stitch in my side

The bumps do rise upon my skin
As do the cries from deep within
I pray I'm safe from those that roam
With eyes of red and mouths of foam
