Twixt Guys and Dolls

Her Bentley sputtered to a stop
At city limits...and ripe corn crop
With hankie poised in silhouette
that platinum babe in flapper-ette.
Where was he now, her Frankie D?
Just packin’ heat for some poor G.
With stockings straight and painted lips
that dame would wait...with hands on hips.

Her hips, beneath a red tight skirt,
drawing stares from a passing Fed.
Still waitin' for one Frankie D.,
fussin’, primpin' that platinum head.
He sauntered down the road so sure
knowing he'd have her gaze on him.
His flashy smile with such allure
Remembering a late night swim.

"Hey Doll, how's ya doin' Sugar?"
He asked as a pout disappeared.
Knowing that she'd reconsider,
in her black Bentley as he steered.
In exuberant beams she slid in
beside that big G with a grin.
She remembered the last time they met
And the swim as the summer sun set

With a clip of her case she made over
shades of cherry cream paste as he told her
"So doll, where's that Frankie D gone,
leaving one such as you all alone?"
And she leaned ever close to his cheek,
tucked the gum slowly under the seat.
And the G puckered up and got ready,
for that Platinum Doll soft and steady.

In a flash she changed every direction.
Hit him square on the jaw with inflection.
As she jumped to her feet kept her skirt straight
Thanked him kindly for Frankie on this date.
In the mirror caught sight of a dark form
and that G shivered deep with look forlorn.
And the music played furious show tunes,
Violins for the G by the sand dunes

Curtains he said as the last hand was played
on the still form of the G  almost slain..
The Bentley was purring like a siamese cat
and that was the end of Frankie D’s spat.
For no man would touch that platinum hairdo
that was reserved for only you know who,
and to the Speak Easy this doll he did drive
where booze was a nickel and love a Five.

BRAVO!!! OH MY GOSH, THIS IS WONDERFUL, this really had me crooning New Kid In Town by The Eagles over and over reading this and many of the classics I too am a fan of, even being part of a later generation! (BIG HUGGGSSSSSS) You two are awesome, sweet friends, this is pure jazz, and Congratulations on 7000 Barry, yay, we all love you both so much! You have such beautiful hearts, sweet Barry and Kathleen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

A pretty slick story, Barry and Kathy.  I can still see that platinum blonde with the tight skirt.  Darn - It's like hearing "The Mexican Hat Dance" tune once, and then replaying it about a gazillion times.
