~*Autumn Leaving*~

This love is like a fragile leaf,
Where it will land I do not know.
Thoughts flutter in the autumn breeze,
telling my heart to let you go.

I hide here in my solitude
my heart hanging by a thread.
I imagine I hear you calling me
those whispers in my head.

I long for you to kiss me
and it’s for your lips I yearn.
Searing inside this heart is an ember
and only you can make it burn.

I long for you to whisper
those words I hold so dear.
Stitch my heart back up again
and dissipate my fear.

I cannot breathe without you
my flame now dies inside.
My love for you is drowning
in all the tears I’ve cried.

And like the autumn leaves,
you circle around my heart,
but you had not intentions,
of commitment from the start.

So as the leaves around me fall,
I’d hold you close if only I could,
but in my heart, I know you must go
so my love, goodbye for good.

NOT "just a poem"

tis a melancholy beauty...wonderful write of theme and emotion...and as always the perfect song and pic.
See...you wrote the ache so well..they all were feeling it...
what does that tell you??? HMMMMM???

Well I do confess ... this from some long forgotten feelings I had indeed and yes, I felt it hard once at having to let someone go I loved, but keeping them would have killed me eventually.  Thank you for you nice responses on this one fall leaving, and unfortunately there were too many.
