so now at last it comes to this--
from those who swore "no judgement"
I have become anathema--
time to wash the feet of dust.
The things so many have presumed
are but the bones of me exumed...
no, I did not tell everything--
a dance of tap, in stead of me.

Don't you see?
I could not tell
I cannot paint that vividly
to make you understand the sear
of fires licking flame in hell.

I've been called a tramp
and worse--
lauded as a queen of verse--
and then I find to my surprise
that honey bore the sting of curse.

I was not a welcomed child--
born to suckle weary breast.
And every day of life I lived
was reminder of attest--
time and time again she said,
"you just got in, kid--
consider yourself blessed."

So no, I am not surprised.
But I do see irony.
Encouraged once, to speak my mind--
encouraged now to take my leave.

So forgive me if I kicked off shoes
and did not dance the dance.
I'll just put ice upon the bruise--
resume the fighter's stance.

*    *    *

It's not in me to give up.
I don't know how to simply die.
Something in me begs a cup
of truce--I wish that I had lied.

I should have written buttercups.
I should have slid down rainbows typed.
I should have hidden me in depth
and let the rest recede with tide.

(sigh) Oh Karen, I understand that we can all feel like the outcast where we begin, but with a deeply profound and introspective heart you share to us all you are bound to continue to make leaps and bounds and become the patrician of your goals! (big hugggsssss) This is excellent, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Serenity, you write beautifully...  you have such a unique voice that comes through in your poems.

I always enjoy reading your work--  there are so many talented writers at PIP....  it is a nice place to be.

Naw........just be you......as I am me,
That will have to do........all else can screw. If we can't write our writes then they can't see our lights.

Well, Karen, I think you should have
written, exactly like you do
Because our little witchey, Serenity Blaze
always comes shining through

You've got spunk and you tell it always
like it is, with boldness
You have heart, compassion, and you're
always real, nothing less

I love to read your writings, the truth
you always tell
You're always out there, right up front,
saying what you think so well

Thank you, Karen for being "YOU"
With Love And Hugs.

one response here is kind of chilling, considering the context. k you... stun me.

the cup of truce, the desire at least, i understand, but karen? god how I hope this bit is sarcastic:

"I should have written buttercups.
I should have slid down rainbows typed.
I should have hidden me in depth
and let the rest recede with tide."

my god, what poetry would have been lost...

a farewell kiss... see you soon, in other lands. (and thus the phantom twirls (un?) mist)
