My Biweekly Chore

Last one outta the sink
pull the plug,
dry the counter,
make spot-free all faucet facets.

Above the sparkling surface,
I toss the towel
upon the gleaming dishes,
vowing with the all of me,
“This time I shall not fail!”

I’ll fin’ly manage, well,
with daily drudgery,
to get the dishes cleaned
quite regulatorily.

So everyday I watch
a pile start,
too tiny to expend
the energy and toil.

Conservation is the name
of my procrastination’s fame;
water, soap suds, and more
reserved for later times in store.

As seed does grow
to healthy pile,
I beleaguered feel,
and wait awhile.

Then every glass,
every bottle and cup
pile higher still,
“the jig is up!”

So tackle I,
the laden sink,
to find a vessel
from which to drink.

I’ve no other choice,
my biweekly chore
to do it less
would pain me more.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

Uh oh! You've been peaking into my kitchen!!!
Haha, I enjoyed this humorous touch to the daily drudgery of dirty dishes. I always seem to have at least one dirty disgusting thing in the sink, no matter how often I wash dishes.

LOL Vas!! Wish I could get away with only doing the dishes bi-weekly!! Unfortunately, if I let them get behind even 1 day I find myself buried up to my ears!! Maybe you should invest in a paper product company and start using "disposable" dishes??!!

Virginia, wish I could get away with doing them twice a week...
but it has to be every day...
I do believe my family is bringing in
the neighbour's dishes as well.
Cute write!
~hugs~
