Price of Freedom
By Paul Wilson

Skies of red light up night
as battle wages on
Fighting for what is right
battle cries welcome dawn

Deadly sounds…distant guns
more lives will be lost
Mothers weep for their sons
as we all pay the cost

Crimson rivers now flow
as reaper takes his toll
Lives all lost…friends and foe
freedom bought with their soul

The bugle sounds its tune
for the lives lost this day
This battle must end soon
war between blue and gray

Brother fighting brother
many lives will be lost
Grief consumes their mother
as she now pays the cost

Freedoms price has been met
on winters day they meet
Lives lost with much regret
weapons now at their feet

Peace has come to our land
freedom our battle cry
Together we now stand
as old glory flies high

Paul - seems that you have read some on the Civil War. I lived in VA and visited many of the battlefields. I find it amazing what happened in that war...

Bill...Thanks for stopping by.
Where I grew up is a fort along the Mississippi River that was build to protect New Orleans during this war. As a young boy I spent many days exploring it...Paul

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Paul, this is such a heartaching sentimental write, sweet friend, I too wish we could end all war and find a way to save this special place we live without having to fear for our children and live as brothers and sisters! (sigh) My heart goes out to all, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Paul, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
