a refugee camp
they can't sleep there anymore
the wind was too strong

sea was roaring too
the storm swept up the waves high
the lighthouse stands guard

on Airport Schiphol
they could only use one lane
the planes were rocking

whole street lost roof
showing their attick safings
lots of mem'ries gone

The storm was 10 to 11 beaufort, the heaviest in 12 years, four people lost their lives, many injured, some people were just plain stupid to go out there, or drive their cars and caravans. Hope Munda and Charisma are ok. Roads were closed, train traffic was closed in the entire country, We were just lucky I guess, no damage at all on the house, it was a West wind, if it would have been North-West, we would have been in trouble. And no sheep flew out of the meadow, they lost their hay rack though, it went flying, but no sheep was hit by it.

Thought you liked to know.

Titia

The power of mother nature is sometimes very frightening, as I can see from your photos and poetry.  I also went to your web site and enjoyed more of your country and words.  Thank you so much for sharing.

I'm glad your sheep didn't fly.

Unbelievable the damage. I saw some of it on the noontime news and I've been thinking of you all day. Thankfully you and your sheep survived.

Why do some people go in storms? That's the best way I can think of to get hurt or worse, killed.

Sending you thoughts and hugs, Marti

Yep, that was quite a storm indeed and I almost got caught up in it. Living only 4 miles from sea, this town sure looked liked a mess this morning with all the trees ripped out, on top of cars, even through windows of apartments. I guess I was lucky. I got home safe. Glad to hear you have no damage either.

WOW!! That looks like quite a storm! I'm glad you are all safe and that it's not raining sheep!

Thank you for the pictures, Titia. They certainly indicate how strong those winds were...thank God everyone is all right.
