A Lacing~~

So worn I feel at last day's end,
knowing that this morning
would begin by sending off
two of my nieces and an older brother,
back home to New England.

Family visits can be rather trying,
as you can't wait for everyone to gather
and then shortly after, you can't wait
to have your solitude once again.

Yes, I know, I don't use that word very often,
as I think of another who does...
for I am a person who needs people.
Remember those words to Barbra's song...

I am lucky...lucky to have been able to gather
all five of us children together for my Mother,
who was smiling during most of the visit.

The last time we were all gathered in one place
was five years ago, for the funeral of our Father.
Funny how the more things change, the more
they stay the same and all those memories
flooded our conversations, bleeding us
in a lacing of tears
, happy ones
to take with us, this time.

And so it is, that I can sit here
in my solitude, ~smiling~
knowing that each of us has added
another snapshot of family life
to an already full album...never forgetting those
who have passed this way, once before.

So touching and  beautifully expressed
I was not able to be at my Mums funeral last year , although I did shed many a tear .
Then weeks later I had a wonderful visit from my Dad , it helped us bothe through the sad
