hope this dont seem too crude, wrote it awhile back.

------------------------------------------------
As a native I'm very proud,
but deep inside there's a very dark cloud.
It used to be nice with no pain,
but all that changed when the white man came.
Long ago our hearts were pure,
but we traded food for diseases without a cure.
We won our wars until our warriors died,
our people washed out like a raging tide.
In the present no white man cares,
they don't notice that we are here.
This can be changed as the elders say,
we should know our traditional ways.
But i guess that we have paid,
for our tradition will soon fade,
all this happened because the white man stayed.

This is a wonderful poem to post as your entree to Passions.  You've said a great deal in very few words here, Owl.  Be assured that we DO care.  None of us can change the past, but we surely can affect the future - One wise word at a time...

Welcome to Passions.  It's a wonderful place to be.  Settle in and enjoy.  Check your email for a special greeting as well...

Owl, stating one's feelings whether through prose, poetically, or just through their actions, is never wrong when done with compassion, spirit, and understanding.  This, you have done, in all ways.  Welcome to Passions.  You will find this to be a poet's home with a lot of heart.  If you have any questions and can't find an answer in the guidelines, don't hesitate to let us know, OK?

WELCOME....to your new "Family Of Friends", Owl. This is not just a little saying they, "we", have here. I've found this past month that the sweet people here at PIP really  MEAN  this from their hearts. I believe you will like it here. From the way you presented your first post, friend, you will fit right in. Thanks for sharing your heart, dear friend.
Love To All,

Welcome. There was nothing crude about it, just honest POV feelings. You will find many who truly care, and we are all part of the Rainbow of Mankind.

Welcome, Owl. No, this does not seem crude. I have Native American ancestry, but it does not take that, to understand the plight of the Native American Indians which you depict quite well.

Thank you so much for sharing,
Warmly, Pat

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Enos, we all do care so very much, for I too am a Native American as much of my ancestry is Cherokee Indian and my ancestors too were forced down the Trail of Tears! (sad sigh) This is a powerfully aching debut, sweet friend, your words speak with such power, I LOVE IT!!! Welcome to Passions, sweet Enos, may you be inspired by all of us here as we will all be inspired by your lovely words! I can't wait to read more of your lovely words, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Enos, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

thanks for the replys i didnt expect that much in such short time.
Well i havent wrote any poems for a long time now. I'm with quotes and thoerys now.
Although i've been trying to write poems but my mind seems so lost these days. Too much thinking i guess. But i have quite a few old poems i'll post later on.
gotta bring back my emotions to write poetry. might be hard with my new thoughts.

yeah i just looked back into the poems i wrote awhile back and i learned some new things from the stuff i knew before.

thanks again for the replys, gave me a nice feeling reading those compliments

I can appreciate the bluntness here, it's very true and sad, i took sociology not too long ago and the native americans have definately been taken for granted and it's sad to see a race that had so much to do with the foundation of our values die out, i can't remember the last time i've even seen a native american out anywhere.

Hello Enos

Your words were very powerful and spoke volumes.  You have every right to stand tall and stand proud.  I believe the white man has a lot to answer for and many need to learn the importance of respecting and befriending others regardless of the color of their skin.  Welcome to Passions and I'll look forward to reading more of your work.

Sending my warmest regards across the miles.

Take care
