I wake each day to see the sun so bright,
Then plant the seeds of joy that they might grow.
I sleep in peace as moonbeams light the night.

My day is done, I tried to do what's right,
Took care, for I shall reap as I did sow.
I wake each day to see the sun so bright.

For all is well in God's embrace of light.
As is above, may we be blessed below.
I sleep in peace as moonbeams light the night.

Gold rays of love, they wash away the fright,
The pain, the doubt--away they all do go.
I wake each day to see the sun so bright.

The skies are clear with no dark clouds in sight,
Both day and night God's love fills up my soul.
I sleep in peace as moonbeams light the night.

Bask in the glow of God's eternal light.
Let go, let God, enjoy life's ebb and flow.
I wake each day to see the sun so bright.
I sleep in peace as moonbeams light the night.

Linda, I just loved this. Great job of writing. Gee, I really love your poems!

It's all in the attitude....and I try hard to keep mine sunny every day.

Hugs, Marti

Villanelle and Pantoum are two of my favorite formats (after the sonnet, of course) - You've done a magnificent job on this one.  Your meter, rhyme scheme, and theme all fall nicely into place.

Mostly, it's just one superbly great poem!!..

EA,

Now I'm going to have to learn what this Villanelle is all about? This was a lovely poem and I'm sure that once I learn what you have done in the way of technique I'll be astounded..

Like SimplyGold, I don't know the technical side of this type poem....all I know is that I saw a lot of truths in it and that it made me feel very peaceful and calm. Thank you, sweet Linda, for sharing.

Love To All,
Ethel

SmartChick ~  Thank you kindly!

RSWells ~  Merci beaucoups!

Marti ~  I, like you, usually try to keep
my poems "sunny"; however, I do
enjoy spreading my poetic wings and
delve into the "darker" side i.e.
         Halloweeen spooky stuff! cackle

Nan ~  Wow! I really appreciate your feedback!---and your very kind words! I had been hesitant about posting this poem, but now I'm glad that I did!

Munda ~  I'm pleased that you liked it! Some forms of poetry flow from me with nary an edit---but this was like pulling teeth! hehe

SG ~  The wheels in my mind churned and groaned to come up with this--but from the wonderful replies that I have received, the torture was worth it!

Ethel ~  "peaceful and calm" is also how I felt when I read my last draft and said, "There, now it's finally finished! haha

Magnus ~  It may have looked easy, but as you know, it wasn't!

Thank you all for reading and for your thoughtful replies.
