Someone in My Prayer

Someone in my prayer is weeping
Under lonely silent skies
All the others now are sleeping
Dreams are creeping through their eyes

I would be in dream’s possession
Had a teardrop not been heard
So I woke with a confession
Laced in every praying word

Forgive me Lord, for I’ve not sought
To honor those who are in need
I’ve not the least small teardrop caught
Where poverty has sown its seed

Tonight there is a child weeping
In a squalid place somewhere
I hear her little voice come creeping
Into warmness of my prayer

The autumn moon had cast a shadow
Clear and sharp this silhouette
Looking down at me, a vision
With my eyes abruptly met

Upon my wall a gentle figure
Feathers spread and wings unfurled
My guardian angel swiftly fled
To travel halfway round the world

No explanation need be given
She went where pain and squalor dwell
Before my prayer came to an end
She caught a tear before it fell

An excellent write with extraordinary feelings, and left with a sense that prayer really will help.

I believe!

Liz, this is brilliantly stunning! I tried to pick out a line or stanza, but each one of them is as good as the next.

i just know with your special heart, you can help someone who needs it.

Hugs to you, Marti

Elizabeth this poem not only spoke to my heart, but it spoke volumes of your caring heart.  This one make me cry, because the content of it is so true, and sometimes reality hurts.
