~Carpets of Gold~

Hot steaming cider laced with rum
yellow gold crysanthemums
football games and warm soft sweaters
raking leaves in chilly weather

ripened apples fall from trees
to the symphony of buzzing bees
pumpkins on doorsteps gather frost
savoring the season before it is lost

carpets of gold, blanket the ground
geese in formation, fly southward bound
the air is crisp with beckoning cold
smoke curls from chimneys, as the year grows old

leaves dance like lovers in the wind
a nip in the air, bites at my skin
the sky is filled with smokey haze
deep blue clouds set colors ablaze

radiant, dappled October glow
trees wearing brazen showy clothes
amidst the yellows, browns and reds
nature's majestic autumnal spread
~

As I read your poem,
I could hear the leaves rustling, and the
Smell of sweet apple cider brewing in the kitchen. It somehow gave me all these flashbacks of eating cinimon cookies and chopping up apples into tiny peices, drizzling sugar on them and popping them into a steaming mug of apple cider. Makes me hungry! And kind of sleepy..........

This is a most perfect poem describing an autumn day. My crysanthemums are just now opening up and I've leaves all over the yard.

I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Thank you so much,
Warmly,
Pat

Little chipmunk - a lovely fall you describe, but alas, I no get to see it for I'm out in the desert. Wonder if fall happens there also?

I love the stanza:
"carpets of gold blanket the ground
geese in formation, fly southward bound
the air is crisp with beckoning cold
smoke curls from chimmny's as the year grows old"

The whole poem is so lovely. Thank you, it speaks so well of this season. "beautiful"
