The question of all questions that I ask from time to time
And finding answers leaves me on my own
For in my life of wander and the times of dire need
I find myself not asking and again just all alone

There are people that you see each day, but glad when day is done
Acquaintances, which drive the day to be
Rarely does a true smile pass that gives the feel of hope
And joy that day is often hard to see

What’s in a friend? I ponder, is it boredom of their time?
To find a space with someone just to share
A little time of bitching or a little heart to heart
Which makes them maybe buddies who can find that something rare

There’s little time for mixing in this world that moves so fast
The finding time to visit with the moments disappear
Friends you once held dearly, which by chance just drifted passed
Leaves inner self the company, in question and in ear

A soul mate as a friend that’s true, as yet I have not found
The mask I wear is hollowed by that pain
One must be prepared to mix, to spend time that is rare
Then company of laughter may just raise its head again

When your down and in the doldrums, if your ill and need a hand
The person who appears to help and give
Is the one to homage with respect, with kindness and regard
For friends are rare and far between, through all these days we live

A friend should bring you comfort, give you peace when by your side
A friend should know to listen when the need
A friend brings you that ray of light, which shows some hope ahead
Unselfish in the giving and so giving in their deed

yep, a friend is someone you trust your secrets to, knowing they will not run if they know the real you

and a friend is one
you will do the very utmost for
and will respond to their secrets
without running as well

by the utmost...I don't mean meeting their every 'need' but maybe helping them learn how to independently succeed

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

If I find a friend in one place, I like to think of that friend in all the places I go. Nice Poem. Thank you.
