i have never been betrayed
by so many--not at once--
i have never felt such pain--
the melt of dream of "Once upon..."

A time there was...and there were times--
a little girl was lost in wood.
Then she met the big bad wolf
disguised as her own fortitude.

Once upon a time...there was--
reason to believe.
She wipes the dribble from her nose--
disgusted by her sleeve.

A basket on her arm she sings:
"tra-la-la" in skip of feet...
Tell me I don't see these things
fore-arm shadows disbelief.

"Tell me I am wrong."
She wept.
Tears beneath the leaves
of deft
thinking in the dark of eyes.
She drank of Lethe.

Then she died.

Karen,

This is a very sad poem. I hope it is in no way autobiographical.

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Karen, I understand this kind of betrayal and my heart goes out to you, sweet friend, unfortunately there can be so many hypocrites in disguise! (sad sigh) I hope this not a current feeling and my heart goes out to you in hoping you have found that one true one that is not in disguise, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Karen, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Well, I admit I had to look up deft and Lethe
I enjoyed this poem and like the others hope that you are O.K. I too, at times, like to write on the dark side. Let us know that you are O.K.

Affectionately,
SG

Awesome write although very sad. Here's hoping that your just in a Halloweeney sort of mood and not really as depressed as this sounds. Big hugs.

I hope it's not autobiographical,
otherwise we're consortin' with a clever ghost!

And Sen? That particular Dylan quote,
when put in its context,
isn't very soothing.
