~* October Whisperlings *~

October is my favorite month, the month that I adore,
All around is dying, to again be born once more.
She dances in fall colors, splashing it everywhere,
as graceful as a butterfly, leaves floating in the air.

As I walk her whisperlings make promises to my soul.
Her leaves dance in a sky of fire, as clouds turn to gold.
She pirouettes as she dances by changing this fall season.
In all her beauty, I see my life has taken on more reason.

Like a child I kick the leaves piled up so very high,
as an orb of fire sinks far too fast in an autumn sky.
I inhale her intoxicating perfume in the October air,
and detect a mix of cedar and pine that is mingled there.

I sat and stared at her beautiful leaves for so very long,
before I knew it I had written her this simple song.
Was there ever such beauty in death such as this?
As when October whisperlings blows its farewell kiss?

Art: Linda Bergkvist's "Autumn Whisperlings"

Actually was my favorite artist did - her art is fabulous and that piece is called of course "Autumn Whisperlings", so I "borrowed part of it to write about, so the credit is indeed all hers

I like the art, too *blush*.  I think I'll go appreciate it once more *more blushes*.

A great poem, too, Sharon.

I know a fine poem and a fine piece of art when I see them---and I just saw fine examples of both!

Ah beauty found in the slow death of autumn. At least we are assured of a rebirth there. Enjoyed

I love the comparisons you've drawn between "death", and being "born again", Sharon. This is a wonderful concept, and you captured it as beautifully in your words, as the artist did with her brush.

Very much enjoyed!

Best wishes and hugs,
/Kit

Sharon, I don't know which is more beautiful, the picture or your words. Just stunning.

Hey, when are you coming to visit Nan and me?

Hugs, Marti

Yeah - What Marti said.. and the rest too...

You've personified fall at its best here, my friend.  My leaves are just changing now - I wish they could stay those colors all year...

Im here... the moth is always late...
The email you sent me had a couple typos....
my moth mind recalls something about "dumb"???
Must be a Canadian term for lovely poetry that Im not familiar with.

That wonderful verse alone did all the justice needed for that beautiful picture.
You need to learn to see your poetry thru the eyes of the moths and butterflies

Unknown to us, there are moments when crevices open for time to come alive with begining.

The moth may be late... but the chipmunk is even later....
I want to congratulate you, Sharon... on an absolutely sterling piece...
October is my favorite month also...
I wish the trees would always stay this lovely color and the temperatures would always be this perfect... and of course...
there would be lots of acorns around to stuff in my cheek pouches...
~ loving chipmunk hugs

Sharon,
I didn't realize October looked that good! I may have to rethink fall. And this is a very inspiring write of death as well. Something which I don't have to rethink. Wonderful.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Janet Marie it is SO good to see you here, and thank you always for your never-ending encouragement (I luvs ya girl!)

Lyra ~ So good to see you in the forums again for a bit, as we missed you but hope you are taking care of you.  Thank you dear lady.

Larry ~ Even in death of life there is renewal, as the memories take hold like roots, and the love grows from them like a tree.  Every day our thoughts become the leaves that get scattered any time of the year (now there is inspiration for a poem for you).

Sharon~
Yet another lovely write from your pen.
You've painted quite a picture with your words.
Thanks for 'showing' me the beauty of autumn.
