A Christmas Verse

On the spiritual time-line was planted a seed
Twice a millennium ‘neath rafters of reed
And a flower came forth in a small humble room
From the center of mankind’s most delicate womb

The universe sent down a song from afar
And Love filled the stable with light from a star
A beacon of wonder, a lighthouse to men
Off the shores of despair in an undertow’s blend

A cradle of glory, a trundle of life
Sent out lifelines to pull in the weight of their strife
Just a sweet newborn child, just a small naked boy
Was the purpose for faith and the reasonfor joy

Two thousand the times that the hourglass turned
Two million the times that a candle was burned
A hundred white lights shine upon you and me
Through millenniums’ branch on an evergreen tree

Liz, I am never, ever disappointed when I read your beautiful poems. And this one dear lady is no exception.

What a wonderful reminder of the 'reason for the season.'

Blessing to you ... Hugs, Marti
