Darkness

Silence is song to the lonely of heart
Rose is a thorn that regret will impart
Sky is unseen to the eyes looking down
Small is the goblet where sorrow is drowned

Silence is nothing but spirit’s sweet song
A wound from a thorn helps the spirit grow strong
The stars strung in phrases that are written for you
Fill up your chalice with honey’s sweet dew

A heart that is closed keeps its eyes on the ground
A heart that is giving can never look down
A poet in darkness sees soft lullabies
And the splendor of roses when closing his eyes

Good morning Liz....you have really outdone yourself with this beautiful poem. It was such a pleasure to read...

Silence is golden,
there's hope in a rose,
we are beholden
to words that you chose

Your use of alliteration added to the lilting cadence of this fine piece  of writing. And you, dear Elizabeth, are one who can see the beauty of a rose even if your eyes were closed.

(sigh) Know always that the rose will bloom for you and the thorn that may sting will be compensated with the perfume the dew and the soft rain provides in a gentle spring shower! (kiss on cheek) This is heartfelt, sweet friend, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Elizabeth, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
