Debussy's Daydream Vistas

Debussy's daydream vistas are heralded events
compelling chaine-quest visions,
violin transitions and crossroad cello-strings
Musical meanderings, a poetic flute running rampant in my mind

Young girl says she wants to be La belle au bois dormant
Sleeping Beauty ballerina
"I'll study with Aurora's famous ballet troupe
transmigrate to the bustling city, so far away from home."
She gazes deep into her lover's dark brown eyes
He runs his fingers through the softness of her flaxen hair,
then reaches out to touch her trembling cheeks and lips
Her private dance is just for him, pretends she's winged cologne
the lingering lasting kiss of Perfume In The Night

He stares, then visualizes a winter solstice frame, the feast of Saturnalia
Boreas blowing forth his frosty northern winds
Her sparkling eyes, bright orbs aglitter,
aureate silver mined from the cratered moon
Around her neck a riviere, countless sequins, dazzling angels on her skin

Holds fast to her elusive hands, he says,"
I'll be right by your side paint movements of fluidity, immortalized for all the world to see."

But the arbitrary fates of arabesque are inclined to watch her contredanse
Drenched in pirouetting charnel, spinning velvet, soul aflame
Filled with lost love's sorrow,
she wears the blackened dress of death to honor Charon's name

Piano melodies are bittersweet, a taste that's carved from life and living
I'm not ashamed if tears begin to fall, because I'm all alone, but never lonely
I drink my endless cups of French-roast coffee and write the way I feel
No abstract points or curtain calls as I sip on peace and solitude

Why be Sleeping Beauty when you are already La fille avec les cheveux de Flaxen?

Thank you.
