Jealousy
Sometimes cruel, sometimes silly
Almost always, unexpected, really

Green-eyed monster
At times appears unexpected
Without notice, almost undetected

Reasons
From the past, gone on before
Mostly the cause, let's throw past out the door

Feelings
Hurt, we both get, I know
It wastes the time for our true love to show

Jealousy
Is less, I've heard, if we have enough trust
Let's try hard, my love, to work on this first

Words
Can never be taken back, no matter how we try
They come to our minds, and make us wonder why

Think
First the effect on the other, I do pray
Before cruel words of jealousy, we do say

Yes this is a great poem. You explained jealousy to a tea.

(sigh) Oh Ethel, this is so very sad, sweet friend, I believe Othello is the epitome of the meaning of jealousy, how even when one is just it can consume ones heart and bring ones just to wrong and in the end have the antagonist be the hero like Iago was in the tragedy! (sigh) I believe it is right to be envious but wrong to be jealous, this is so well-said, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Yes, Noah, jealousy is  as cruel as the grave. And it shows up in all kinds of places, doesn't it....not just in romance. Thanks for your reply, friend.

Ethel, what a great topic. I've always found jealousy as another form of
compliment; sadly some just haven't learned enough grace to say, gee, I wish I could be/have (such and such, like you are/have. It is the envy and contempt that are the real buggers; those will set out to destroy if you don't know who you are, and, who they are...sad....
But, you seem to know who you are and am so glad to see you venturing out into new 'topics', I think you are doing so well! And, wishing you all the best in this poetry writing adventure.

Hugs to you,
Pat

Ethel, jealousy can be so destructive to a relationship whether love or friendship.

Well said ... Hugs, Marti

Nancy Lee...I   KNOW !!!!  I've got green-eyes, too.
Thanks so much for the birthday greetings you sent. I had a very nice birthday. Just kind of sad, though. Even with all my other family and friends, I didn't have my Gary or my daughter with me on my special day. I know, though, that I have their love, and that's all that matters. I wish I had a fax machine.. I would send a copy of the beautiful birthday card that Gary made for me and sent to me in the mail. Gary and I will have to have a delayed birthday celebration when we get together next month.

Thanks for your reply, sweet friend.

Oh, I know, Marti. Isn't it sad that people let such destructive emotions into their relationships? But, jealousy is everywhere, it seems. I've even seen a lot of it in Church, even, I'm so sad to say. Thanks for your reply, dear friend.

Thanks , too, for the birthday greeting. I love the cards.
Love To All,
Ethel

Ethel, very well spoken.  Jealousy comes from insecurity.  You can't own another, they must have their freedom, always.

Jennifer, thanks for reading my poem. Jealousy
is very cruel, isn't it? I hope whoever this is will
be helped to realize how terrible jealousy really is.

Ethel,

This is a great write. I wish everyone(myself included) could learn not to give into the green eyed monster.

Yeah, Dixie....jealousy makes all concerned feel bad,
doesn't it? The person who gets jealous and the person
who receives the jealous reactions from someone, gets
miserable. I've experienced both, too.
Thanks for reading my poem and for your reply.

Sue, yes, I have, too. People in Church even get jealous of each other....if God uses someone to sing, teach, or just anything, sometimes. I think it's really bad. Thanks for reading my poem and for leaving a reply.

Liz, thanks for your reply. When I put "Green-eyed Monster" as part of the title, I didn't even think of Lauren's user name being "GreenEyes". In fact, I hadn't thought about it until you mentioned it. Maybe she'll know that I wasn't calling HER a green-eyed monster. Sure do hope so.

Dawn, I'm glad that it's helping you. I've had to read it a few more times myself. I had my fiance and myself in mind when I wrote it, and some past relationships, but it seems that green-eyed monster has really been talking to me a lot today. I was planning to go with Gary's parents to see him this week-end. Now, Gary's Dad is in the hospital and even if he gets out, we probably can't go. Gary thinks it's too far for me to drive by myself, and he gets upset when I start talking about it. All kinds of doubts and stuff have been creeping back in for some ungodly reason. Well, I'd beter hush.
