THE DOG FOX

One eerie day in June
The winter snow arrived.
Time overhung in damoclean quiet,
And all the forest waited, hued in white.

A spectral stillness reigned,
Awaiting a reprieve.
An icy hand of chillness held all sway
As cracking frost-flung boughs met morning light.

Their echoed sound remained
Beneath a Crayon sun,
Ethereal cries of missing, lost and lone
Ascended through each height.

A slash of orange fire,
Eye locked to wary eye,
As nature meeting nature eerily,
Each sad in fear, and undecided flight.

A moment stolen, held
In frozen tense relief,
A lifted paw, an eye-blink instant, still
To disappear from sight.

Some fantastically unique phrases in this...love the 'crayon sun'!

So was it a freak snow, or do you reside in the southern hemisphere?

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

..."an eerie day in June
    the winter snow arrived"...

I gather you don't live in southern Ontario! LOL

BTW Welcome to Passions and you're off to a great start with this uniquely expressed poem!
