Misty Yesterdays
By Larry Chadwick

As I look over my shoulder,
And reflect on my yesterdays.
It brings thoughts to mind,
That are now a misty haze.

Memories softened by the laps of time,
Through the gentle mist of my recall.
Pictures of family I have lost,
Placed in clouds from autumns fall.

Beckoning me to harken back,
To times when life was whole.
Framed in tears of joy now passed,
Yet still there to warm my soul.

It’s not always sunshine where I reside,
But misty weather I will not dispel.
For it’s then that tender recollections come,
A gift on which I like to dwell.

October 22 2002

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

I believe you handled the content of dealing with the past in a very real way. I can relate to the mist. I like a misty presence here. Thank you.

Larry, what a gorgeous picture matched only by your words.

'... Beckoning me to harken back,
To times when life was whole.
Framed in tears of joy now passed,
Yet still there to warm my soul...'

This brought tears and joy all at the same time. Blessings to you .... Hugs, Marti

Both lovely and wise, Larry.  This is a keeper.

When night falls there will be a gentle wind to rush our minds. Strengthening our hearts and interpretting our souls.

In the mists of the shadows, our lives resist far beyond comparison to what we will reflect on them before. Our realizations and our simple solitude.

Time will heal broken hearts until mended. And God will never give up.

Larry- God loves you. God has more love and words for you than I could even conjure up in a million years. But here in my heart is a bit of grace. A bit of wonderment and a bit of faith.

Father, lift Larry up into your arms today. Bless him in his times of grief and sadness. God, bring Larry peace in his heart and bring forgiveness to him. Father, Larry comes openly, bless him with your love.

Father thank you for bringing Larry into my life. AMEN

Love,
Kellie

Larry...This is so sad and comforting.
Thankfully the mind tries to fill the holes in our hearts with fond memories of happier times...Paul

How clever of you...

...Memories softened by the laps of time,
Through the gentle mist of my recall...

to think of memories lapped in time,
while lapses of time bring us to such a recall...

how cleverly gentle of you...

Nicely done, Larry.  You have a great organization of thoughts, and I like how you described the various implications of memory... what it does, how it occurs...

I think you could have worked on the meter a little bit more to make this poem flow in step with its rhyme, but other than that, I really liked this.  Very nice work.

Paul,
It does and succeeds quite well. Thank you for your understanding.

SN,
It is so nice of you to stop in and read. Bless you and thank you for your insightfulness.

Ethel,
And thank you for the gift of your friendship!

LP,
Thank you for your kind words. I'll have to put this one on my agenda for a possible re-write. Something I haven't done. But these poems of late have more significance to me. Thanks.

amigo,
I'm thrilled to see you got it! And thank you so much for reading and responding.
