The redheaded coed
in the second seat
sat falling asleep
nodding her head
while the grad student
droned.
Out in the hall
a janitor swept
then
leaned on his broom
transmorgifying himself.
Four blocks away at
a sidewalk cafe
cold acid rain
fell defoliating trees
emitting no sense.
(sp.) scents.
They say blondes (natural)
will be extinct
within
two hundred years.
The tenured professor
alone at a table
at the sidewalk cafe
sipped his expresso
just coffee with cream.

An hour had passed
in just fifty minutes.

The tenured professor
rose from his seat
and started to walk
no shoes on his feet
away
from the college
where he'd never teach.
The grad student's drone
immediately stopped
as if time had halted
he walked out the door
past
Janus faced (maintenance)
engineer
who started to sweep
transmutating himself.

The janitor swept
as the grad student ran
as he took off his shoes
in search of the
professor (tenured)
who was lost in himself
while the redheaded coed
in the second seat slept
enrolled in the class
three credits pass/fail.

She past.
(sp.) passed.

Tim,
Quirky and fun! I loved it.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Well done Tim. Thanks for the chuckles. Chris

LOL!!!  This is very clever .... if the redhead had been a male, I would have thought you were writing about my son!!!

Hey, I like this.
Love quirky stories, and what better place to find them?
Nice one.

Listening to every heart

You brought this home.  My father was
a janitor in the highschool that I attended.
He would often find himself coming for the
afternoon shift just a bit early, in order
to catch the quiet talks between that student
who didn't catch on earlier in the day to
the teacher's lecture...

a man with a sixth grade education would sometimes
quietly sweep up not only the dust,
but the instructor's words...

this may have been quirky for some,
but for me, it was a wondrous read...

thank you, Sir....

No more blondes?...no matter..I have a passion for redheads...with greeneyes and brightly painted toe nails...I think I missed the point of this poem...I was distracted...*S*

...believe what your heart feels...
