Far beyond the smokeless pall
where graveyards bloom with men again
I hear the raven's raucous call
reminding me, all life is pain

The world is pain from birth to death
with times of gladness sometimes spent
in view of nature's blooming breath
we put aside our sad lament

From birth to death and in between
the whips and chains will sear our soul
the wonder times are just a dream
as war intrudes to take its toll

but in between those times of joy
can make the darkest heart feel blest
with springtime's hope in soft employ
the darkness takes a time of rest

those songs of joy, in cycles strong
recede as pain once more intrudes
the  rain will follow clouds along
the threat of war comes brash and crude

the threat of war that hovers near
and on our brightest hopes rains down
the edicts of the fates are clear
in suffering you must take the crown

the crown of thorns that this world bears
for shedding blood - the gift of peace
and life is pain in nicks and tears
until we're granted last release

our last release in smokeless pall
takes the suffering to its source
and raucous raven, with harsh call
reminds us life has run its course.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Maree,
thank you so much, I'm glad it has left you speechless, it means my form has come back and the jet lag has gone. I was writing nonsense for a while. *HuGS* lovely lady.

Life's a circle of war and peace.

You've done a outstanding job with this poem!

Lynne, this is very good. this part stood out to me......

"but in between those times of joy
can make the darkest hours blest
with springtime's hope in soft employ
the darkness takes a time of rest"

Oh, yes those times of joy and rest are what keeps us going in any situation. Thanks for sharing your work, friend.

Earth Angel,
thank you, I'm not sure about the outstanding but I'm pleased you liked it.

garysgirl,
thank you so much. I see life as linked circles of light and dark I am glad I am not the only one.

Seymour,
given that I enjoy all of your works I am happy that you enjoy works in my voice.

Keth beloved heart I was waiting for this to slip so I could raise it up to the moon again. Krissy was just on the phone and sends huge hugs and kisses, and will be delighted with any gift that can give her direction which I so obviously can’t.

As for me I would tell you that this is outstanding in its thought and execution but since I know you will simply shrug and say Slushy you are blinded by love I shall simply say this I s’pose its has its merits.

Loosely translated that means that when angels let loose a sigh of wonder they are doing it because they have read you. it is splendiferous and I love it utterly

Love and warm stuff
As always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

May love and light always shine upon you!

Marsha,
I like your interpretation although it embarrasses me as you would know.

Dark Angel, thanks, thanks.

Madame Chipmunk,
I can't imagine why I would have had jet lag after all eighteen hours is not so long
to fly is it? No wonder I was bird brained for a while.

vandana,
thanks for stopping by.

Eagle One,
I'd like to lie and say I wrote this for your birthday but I didn't your birthday poem would have been mu8ch more natural had I written it, which I didn't but I have all the good intentions - enough to pave the road to hell. Happy Birthday anyway.

Bill,
thank you, I like what you do too?

Noah, it may be wisdom that fills my heart but love and compassion fill yours. Thank you sweet Noah you have a beautiful heart.
Martie,
thank you for taking time to read and respond

Keth.

ROFL @ Mushy's understatement... it does indeed have its merits! LOL

I like this very much, Kethry... and wish you very many of those times of joy... 'tis only a fair exchange for the blessing you are to us. *S*
