Two years ago I wrote this poem and last year reposted it with the note below.  My brother just called with news that his son, Jeff, has suddenly had a turn for the worse, in critical condition and not expected to live through the night.  Please send your prayers to Jeff, my brother, and his family and Jeff's wife and two year old daughter and new baby.  He has been so strong in this amazing fight.  Thank you.
___________

I wrote this poem last year after spending Christmas eve with my nephew, Jeff. Last year at this time, he was not expected to live another year, or even a few months.  Now, after two operations, and being near death many times...he is doing much better.  The passionate poet prayer team helped with this healing, I think.  Peace and love to all this holiday season..and every day of the year.

Encased in Living’s Smile

The sun drown in the Pacific
and the sky had caught on fire
the island rose like a gray whale
against the melting funeral pyre

Warm by the light lit Christmas tree
a family circled round the hearth
and thanked a giving beauty blessed
family dinner to take part

Their child was filled with imp for sure
and rode stick horse from room to room
the tender hearts that gave her birth
tried not to think that dad’s life’s doomed

For deep inside him is the wrath
of cancers spread to every room
and where our love lives it fills up
and spills out fear of pain and gloom

Yet we hug our love to tell him
we treasure each and every mile
that takes him to another day
with love encased in living’s smile.

Oh, Martie, this breaks my heart, too. Like Noah, I wasn't here when you posted this poem, but I'm glad that you have reposted it.  And, also, I am sure that when this enormous prayer chain at PIP gets this request, there will be a change in your nephew, Jeff's, condition. Thanks for sharing, sweet Martie.
Love To All,
Ethel

Martie, we've spoken of Jeff and his hard fought battle.  Cancer can often feel like a cruel joke, but please have faith that only God truly knows the number of our days and doesn't call us home until it's time.  My prayers are with each of you that God will give you the strength you need in the coming days, weeks, even years ahead.  God bless you, my friend, and God bless Jeff and his dear family.  *hugs*

The stars will shine when I am gone,
the earth will turn on as before,
the gulls, still race along the shore,
the morning star, still kiss the dawn

Martie,
You have my prayers for sure. Such a protracted battle. How tragic are the results of cancer both in the body and in our families. Peace to you all.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Martie prayers are on wing.  God speed to heal him and we will continue in the vigil to join with you in this prayer circle of Passions that simply does Work many wonders.  Hugs to you and be strong.

My prayers are there for your nephew, family and yourself. This is so very heartwrenching to go through. I wish I could offer more than prayers.

Jeff died this morning at 2:40.  Continuted prayers for his wife and children and my brother would be appreciated.  Thank you all your thoughts and prayers last night and this morning.  Much love to you all.
