A shallow puddle in the sand
a perfect mirror of the sea
her nightmare so personified
more filthy than a dream could be
A fool -- I could reach forth my hand
I touch the deadly pool I see
and now I know why oceans cried --
This pool is not their dream -- It's me

Who am I?
I thought I knew
Now I'm not sure
Who am I?
I'm poison blue
Who has the cure?
Who am I?
I beg of you
I plead with you
I fall down on my knees
I am at your mercies
Tell me please!
Who am I?

Am I just another animal
in this dreaming sea?

Each creature has a puddle here
the dreamlike desert by the sea
Each one diff'rent -- each one the same
Each person's pool connects to he
whose body is illusion mere
whose soul in water ever be
To some no poison makes its claim
Advice and fog are what I see

I ask in vain if someone knows
if any creature holds the key
The box of clouds with healing rain
release the antidote -- we're free
No -- most choose to go with the flows
There are no keys -- we need no key
I roar and claw my pond in vain
and despair fills my poison sea

How can I?
I thought I knew
Now I'm not sure
How can I?
From poison blue
Spring water pure
How can I?
I don't know who
I beg of you
How can I see what no one sees?
I'm begging on my knees
Tell me please!
How can I?

Or will I always remain poisoned
and untolerated?

Then when I'm at the point to die
The poison pool -- worms' meat of me
Another soul speaks -- Come my friend
A cool breeze o'er my bitter sea
Who are you and who am I
A panther and a man are me
Sir -- Why my mind you wish to bend
when none can stand me -- even me

Hush sweet Tigress and hear me through
Your soul does not mean death -- says he
Your puddle sea like all for sure
but greater things in you I see
This thirst for cure is beneath you
Drink what you have and you will see
no bound'ries -- This desert impure
keeps you from a great destiny

Now drink

I drink

It stings
It is bitter

My eyes lift.
I see myself--reflection clear.
I see him: a friend, a man.
He bows his head.
"You listened."
"Yes," I sigh.
"Let me show you
your real place,"
he says.

He brings me and that pool's still mine
and so we walk into the sea
My poison sits in water pure
and now this sea... is me

The deepest ocean in the sand
a perfect mirror of this me
my womanhood personified
and now I can see -- I am me

Magnificent piece!!!! I love the way you wove the same theme throughout and personified the sea as you...as your womanhood.

Excellent metaphorical use of the sea and this was truly one of the most magnificent pieces that I have had the pleasure of reading.  Thank you for a jewel for my box of treasures.  This is lovely and thanks for sharing it.  Hugs.

If I have touched one heart through my words, then I have acheived my dream...
