Decided to Head South
~ By Sue ~

I look out at the trees behind my house
No longer do I see the birds up high
They must have already left me
Only they did not say good-bye

Rarely do I see a blue bird
Chickadees and red birds I see
I think they have all left me now
They are not where they use to be

I guess they thought it was too cold
Deciding to head for the south
Leaving this place in a hurry
Traveling on their usual route

Sue, I was thinking the same thing yesterday.  I was sitting on the porch over at my future in-laws house, watching the little mockingbirds getting nectar from the feeder hanging on the porch. I was wondering were they go from here when it gets too cold, because I'm already in the South. Maybe Cuba or somewhere farther down South than I am?!? Thanks for sharing, sweet sue.

Ethel

smiling...I YAM SOUTH...these guys have parked here? and pretty much folded their wings and said, "uh-uh"---"we ain't flyin' till january--maybe feb...and then we don't intend to fly far..." if one more bird? whistles "oh stew-ar-dess!"

and I swear? one more tweak of beak on butt?

sigh...

(sorry, gotta go...there's this most intriguing raven...he's so cool too...I just wish he would quit tap-tap-tapping on the cabin door...)

Sue, this is wonderful. I enjoyed it so much and I felt like I was watching them leave with you.

Maybe we should take a hint and head for warmer places!!!

Hugs, Marti

Oh, I know what you mean. When they leave us here in Ontario and migrate to the southern climes, I wish them lots of good luck on their journey and a safe return.

As they say, "Parting is such sweet sparrow!"
--or is it sweet "sorrow"?!? tehe

The other day I saw hundreds of Canada geese flying overhead. They darkened the sky! I had never seen so many flocks flying together like that. It was incredible. I pulled my car over, jumped out, looked up and wished them a safe journey!

~ May you fly like a bird and with a song in your heart ~

SmartChick - I believe I saw the birds you're missing flying by this place in Arizona. They'll be back, in the spring...

Wish I could fly Sue...
I'd be right in that V formation headed south with them.
Good write!
