As I was reading here
yesterday
I found a word I   NEVER
like to read  or know
is happening

A-B-U-S-E

An awful word to see
or know is
happening

Hid amongst these beautiful
words of poetry
People crying out
for help
Any kind of help
or advice

A-B-U-S-E
Oh how awful it is
Spouse
       against
              Spouse
Lover
           against
                    lover
Parent
           against
                    child
Child
           against
                    parent
Man
           against
                    child
Woman
           against
                    child
The list could go
on and on
Physical
       Mental
               Verbal
                        Emotional
                                 Sexual
The list could go
on and on
It's so sad
ABUSE

Some don't even realize
what it is
Sometimes starts
slow and
escalates
Faster and faster
Until hospital
            or death
                     and morgue
We don't want to see it
but it's all around
A-B-U-S-E
AN AWFUL WORD,  but heard about so often......

Pat, thanks so much for your reply. You speak a lot of truth in your words. I wonder if sometimes people might, (in some strange way), like this feeling that an abusive situation causes. Either way, you're right....they all need prayer, don't they?

Pat, I'm so very thankful that you aren't in any of these situations anymore. God bless, and best wishes to you and yours.
Love To All,
Ethel

(tears fall down my cheeks) Oh Ethel, this is sooooooo heartbreaking and a depressing fact of our world today, this deeply ached my heart because I grew up as a boy always abused my boys my own age physically and verbally, and I tried running from them all the time but sometimes they got hold of me and threw me against split-rail fences and kicked me! (wipes tears) I always cried for help but my teachers said to stop acting like a baby and fight back, but I didn't want to fight and wanted to make peace! (sad sigh) Then I think about the millions whose abuse is far more dangerous than mine and my heart cries out to them all and wish that soon His word can come to all our hears and we can begin to rather turn the other cheek when we get angry and wish the other well or make peace and love and settle differences and then give our aid to those who are mentally abused! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, I wish there were more angels like you in the world, you are a very special compassionate friend to me, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Ethel, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Ethel, what a powerful poem about an unfortunate and pervasive  problem. You spilled your guts and heart right out onto the page!

Your poem also brought about powerful and moving replies from Pat and Noah!

Good job of putting light on something so dark!

Noah, dear sweet friend...thank you so very much for your heartfelt reply. I just wish there were more people in the world like the ones found on these beautiful pages here at Passions In Poetry. You are a very special person, Noah. I'm glad that you are not in an abusive situation anymore. I have been in my past, too. That's one reason it's so hard for me to trust the way that I so desperately want to. I know in my heart that my Gary would never abuse me in any way. He is one of the kindest and loving human beings I have ever met in my life. In fact, it's probably about time for me to start a poem for the sequel to the one I wrote earlier.."Doubts And Fears Just Go Away", don't you think? thanks again, my dear sweet friend.

Love to All,
Ethel

Hello Linda...Thanks for reading my poem. If you read the reply I gave to Noah, you will see why I felt the need to speak out on this. my daughter has also been abused in her past, too. Not anymore, though, thank God. I honestly believe that this may be one of the many reasons that I have been steered  towards this wonderful site.

I believe, too, that the "Keeper Of the Stars" has let me see how lucky I am to have such a wonderful man in my life now. As I said to Noah, Gary would never be abusive in any way. He is such a loving and kind person. I just don't believe that it's in him to be that way. Thanks, again, for yor reply, Linda.

Love To All,
Ethel

I too think that Gary sounds like such a wonderful person like you in your words you have written, I sure hope he posts his poetry here soon, that would be delightful to see what he writes too from his golden heart! Yay!!!

Ethel, you wrote a very touching poem here. No one knows why people stay in such bad situations. But, believe me there are reasons. And, it is not because they like the way they feel from being abused. Some people are lucky enough to be able to get out of a bad situation. Then, there are many who are unable to even with all of the help there is today. And, not every state has the same laws. They may be stuck out in the middle of no where. Without any transportation, or even a phone. There are so many different situations. Best wishes to you my friend.

Noah, Gary doesn't have a computer, so I've been wondering if they'd let me post some of his poetry for him. I think he would let me if I talk real sweet to him. HeeHee. He's a much better poet than I am. He writes all kinds of poetry. And draws some beautiful pictures. He made a birthday card for me last year that is absolutely amazing. I hope he makes me another one this year, too.

Oh, if I'd get off this computer long enough and stop reading all of you wonderful friend's poetry for a little while, I might could finish the sequel to the other poem!!HeeHee!!

Ethel

Sue....I know, Sweetie. There are some situations that are very hard to get out of. Circumstances that nobody would believe if they were told....especially the kind of abuse that others can't see. Sometimes the abusers are very good at covering up their abusive natures. I know of so-called preachers that have been abusers. I was in a situation that I didn't know how to get out of, too. And a friend of mine was in an abusive situation for 25 years. She's now married to a wonderful man and I have my wonderful Gary. My daughter has a wonderful husband now, but she is in therapy because of the abuse she went through before she met him.

Thanks, sweet lady, for your reply.

Ethel

Yes, Bill, it's places we don't even know of. So sad to me. It's one of the things that I don't even like to think of or to talk about, but when I read those poems and some of the replies yesterday, my heart went out to them. It brought back a lot of bad memories to me. Thanks for your reply here, kind sir.
Love To All,
Ethel

Very strong poem Ethel, sorry to hear you have been in an abusive situation.

My daughter has been too, it took her seven years to get out of it and all we could do was stand by, keep the 'door' open at all times untill she was strong enough to say 'No more'. Now she has this marvellous man and is very happy.

I think almost every one could come up with a story of some kind of abuse they know of.
Sad as this may sound, it's a truth, abuse comes in so many ways.

Titia, thanks so much for your kind comments. It's a shame that this is so true, isn't it? I'm glad that you let your daughter know that you were there for her and that she finally got out of the situation. Thank you.

Love To All,
Ethel
