Would appear an apparition in the clouds soft scudding slow,
over flames of Falls' bright foliage from this vantage point below,
near the crystal rushing waters cresting full along these banks,
once again the pull of Nature gives me pause, I give her, thanks.

She's adorned in hues of Autumn 'mongst her limbs, so sleek and brown,
must they slip from her so quickly now as leaves
swift come to ground,
on the shore skim ice is forming in the shadows, hid from sun,
as the evening and the morning trade their places on the run.

Hark and herald now the horns of passing messengers in flight,
humbled by their strident calling as they swiftly fade from sight,
it's her voice that I am hearing, saying she must soon away,
that her time is quickly nearing, fading fast, as has this day.

Where have gone these precious hours lost in splendor of the fall?
Were it but within my power, I'd not let them pass at all.

Your words duplicate my feelings about Autumn, and how I hate to see it disappear into Winter. It does seem to be the shortest season of the year...well, I agree with you...if I had it in my power, I would keep it here longer, too!  Great write, and on my 'keepers' shelf....thank you!!

Pen how you truly feel...
it is a safety-valve for the soul!

Doc,
this was one of the little deaths you do so well.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

loner,
Thanks, my friend.
To sum the day in passing , at which pace things fast receed, to weigh all things in balance, finding truth among our creed.
Might we all not yet be poets, and or scholars, save for one?
This noose that tightens 'round my throat means trials have begun,
and I shall fall and draw the rope quite tightly 'round my neck,
but then again, I'm such a dope , I'll shout out"what the heck" to bottom out, but like a cat I'll land back on my feet,
When muses meet the Moose it's all 'bout who's got bigger feet!
Doc

Sunnyone,
Thanks, one of these days I will find a way to stop the passage of time. It is inevitable,
at least for me.
Doc

majnu,
Thank you. It is tragic, passing beauty, quickly faded, life in a nut-shell, without all the muss and fuss, merely words on paper.
Doc

Kethry,
Thank you.
A "small death" a small birth, words on a flat sheet of paper in a three (?)dimensional world. In the depths so far unfathomed, close unto the heart of truth,
lay a realm yet un-imagined, even in the dreams of youth.
