Moved from a shack to a barn

I once took a photo

Of my love
Alone in bed.
Atop the bedclothes

Facing away from me,
Curled like a lazy G.
Her nakedness glowing.

When she roused
And left the room

I took another

Of where she had just been,
The impression of her body
Was still where she’d lain.

And printed these images
Together

To make a beautiful
Matte finished,
Sepia toned
Photograph

Of a woman,
No longer there

Of a heart,
Breaking.

love the piece..both from an image and an idea.... you weave it together seamlessly..and let the break tell itself by the absence of intimate... only the form in memory captured...

always a pleasure...and I know they will always be good....

You snuck in on me witch, as I was responding.
Yes, it seems so, the unintentional making of Magick.

had to revisit this....

the image double printed... a ghost where once was a heart... Ser is right... one does create magic in ways such as this..

imagery intrigues me....

I love this - it's a portrait of a memory. Something unusual and different. Glad I found it.

Ed, this is really beautiful and unique. I love it. I've only been here less than a month, so I haven't read you before, I don't think. I'm going to look up some more of your poetry when I get back from town. I loved this. I was glad to read in your reply that this is a good 'memory", now. Thanks for sharing.

Ethel

fantastically woven!

and that 2nd photo, priceless in its interpretation of its impression

truly a heart-breaker

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

This has been collecting dust on my hard drive for months.

Ed, I loved the next-to-last stanza.

Making the last stanza feeling anticlimactic.

Is that what you intended? The going
and the leaving?

I've never read your work before today.  Now, I think I will need to search for more of it.  Your writing is addictive.

The starkness of this poem completely captures heartbreak.  Short, simple lines usually say it best.  Bravo!
