Have you ever noticed the air of spring,
A fragrance that's so devine?
When falling rain gently covers,
The honeysuckle vines.

The scent of a lady, freshly bathed,
With powders, perfumes and such,
All of our senses reach out in envy
The sweet smells we adore so much.

Now and then we experience an odor,
That catches us right off guard,
You're not quite sure where it came from,
But you'd guess a local barn yard.

It enters your nose in the usual way,
And you recognize it as old LongJohn,
The cologne he wears is "Catch of the Day"
From the city's sewage pond.

Oh, this is vintage you, mixed in with the nouveau you!

I'm sighing and laughing--laughing and sighing...

P.S. I must leave now to slip into my lilac-scented bubble bath.

It's a mix alright. Toe, you are a scoundrel. But, I like that about you.

Such a soft start..and then.

And then another scent so raw
Abuses all your senses
It's just that Bugman Balladeer -
The nose has no defenses!

I love this, Toerag... from the gentle beginning of beauty straight through the arrow in the sailor's dignity. LOL Great work! *S*

Although I'm new to Passions in Poetry...I have discovered that Toerag, Balladeer,LongJhnAg and sometimes Suthern enjoy the "run and gun" approach to poetry..it brings such humour to this site...Toerag, you break me up!!

Toe, this is so delicious.

I never know quite what to expect when I open and read one of your poems. You always keep us guessing.

This I just loved ~~ LOL!!! ... Hugs, Marti

Hooters must close every Tuesday
To get John out of their way
So that they can disperse his "perfume."
Oversized gas masks enable
Them to scrub down "his" table
But a strange smell remains in the room.

Then the real you showed up...and I like it much better that way
