A soft moment perhaps of reflect
is what I want, not introspect,
too much time spent in the mind
can sometimes be a bit unkind.

Let me light upon simple thought
in treasured times let me be caught,
within a dream of loving embrace
where plays a smile upon his face.

Joyous events of past now see
just there on the edge of history,
don't show the plot or motive clear
it's the covert reasoning I fear.

I plead with mind, remembrance, yes
but please, the facts a little less,
faded pictures with a smile perceived
this is all I wish to see.

Some might say a selfish request
yet, I need a time of mind at rest
the horror stays, it's always there
I need one moment sans despair.
