It's six o'clock as his car rolls up,
And soon I'll hear him say,
"I'm home!What's for dinner?"
As he does near everdyday.

He'll hang his coat in the closet,
As he asks me what is new,
Then after he has washed his hands,
He'll come and taste the stew.

"Mm!It tastes mighty good!
How long before we eat?"
"Just a few minutes, Dear",
Then he'll kiss me on the cheek.

Then off he'll go, to the livingroom,
With the newspaper in his hand,
And give the children each a hug,
--How I love my family man!

Linda, How nice, capturing a moment in time.  How blessed you are. This is great and I am happy for you. Can I come for dessert? (big, big smile)

And, big hug to you,
Warmly, Pat

Enchantress ~

Like RoseWhite, I've been digging up some of my old poems. My husband and I were happily married for many years---then we were hit by a series of very tragic and life altering events. Unfortunately our family was torn assunder and he is now my wasband. We have remained friends and he has always been there for me when I have needed him. I honor the wonderful memories that we shared and do not regret the years we spent together as husband and wife.

Life was good, then it wasn't, now it's good again! Not only did I survive--I thrive!

And this is a lovely memory indeed. A testament to your strength to remember it so fondly. Good for you.

Yes, my husband, now my wasband, was a rare breed and I feel blessed that we had so many wonderful years together.

P.S. See my reply to Enchantress.

Sounds like a great guy, you're a lucky lady...or is he the one that's lucky?     And hey, I'm the cook here and thank goodness for that!  LOL

Pat ~

I wrote this several years ago when I enjoyed a very fulfilling and happy family life. As I replied to Enchantress, circumstances altered my world. When I found this poem, I was flushed with these warm memories, but I also felt somewhat wistful as a tear began to roll  down my cheek.

I'm stronger now and I have made a wonderful new life for myself. He's proud of me and so am I!

WhiteRose ~

You were instrumental in my searching out my old poems---this has been quite a trip down memory lane.

I miss my husband too---as least the man he once was.

Auguste ~

He certainly was a great guy! In fact, we are still friends and he has admitted to me that the best thing that he ever did, was to marry me, and that the biggest mistake he ever made, was leaving me. I take great comfort in that, and guess what!--he's right! tehe

Hey girl, now this is special! Makes me forget all the yucky stuff in the world and gives me a warm, snuggly feeling.

Gotta love it ... hugs, Marti

BC ~

This is such a true depiction of what my family life once was. I have written more about what happened in my other replies. You know, I didn't realize how difficult writing these replies was going to be.

Noah ~

I wish that kind of happiness for you and Joanna---only I hope yours will last forever.

My husband is now my wasband. I have explained more about that in my other replies. This has been a trip down memory lane today as I searched out my old poems.

Marti ~

This is one of my old poems that I was going through today. It has been affecting me more than I thought it would. I've been writing bits and pieces of the story in my replies.

Needless to say, this is my wasband that I wrote to you about---and even tho' our song ended on  a bad note, I do not regret singing it!
