Oh, Christopher !
~*Marge Tindal*~

He had a dream - the world was round
Ain't that just the dangdest thought ?
Sold it to a Queen in Spain
and his idea - she bought !

Sailed off across the ocean
on ships that numbered three
The Pinta, The NiƱa and the Santa Maria

He came upon a new shore
where there lived a quiet native breed
Took all they had to offer
from their plant of seed

Word spread quickly to other horizons
this was the land of opportunity
They came in droves and I suppose
they conquered in their greed

So that's why we celebrate
and feed our faces with glee ?
I've often wondered why
we painsakingly celebrate ThanksGIVING
when it should be called ThanksTAKING~

'Columbus Day'~
October 2002

Marge,
I love the way you take history and turn it into poetry in your magic moments.

And my dear Marge, unfortunately, that greed has not stopped!

Great job of taking today's holiday and turning it into a poem.

Hugs, Marti

Marge, I also like the way you turned a day of history into very good poetry. Thanks for sharing, sweet lady.

Marge - I have to agree with you. Left a lot of misery brought with them...

Sometimes I wish there could have been a sign saying: "Trespassers would be prosecuted" and then I wish even more that the 'trespassers' would have listened and even much more that since they didn't they should have been prosecuted... instead of being celebrated... and guess who they called wild...

Regards to you Marge,
Sudhir
