Terror struck close to midnight
Not that far across the sea
To a place loved by so many
The tiny island of Bali

It was thirteen years ago
That I travelled to this place
I arrived there as a newlywed
With a huge smile on my face

It was so hot and very humid
And it took time to adjust
The streets were all unmade
And we walked through dirt and dust

Blessings of flowers and incense
Lined each and every street
We often felt we were at home
With all the Aussies we would meet

A haven for Australians
So many flocked there every year
But when I heard the news this morning
I couldn't help but shed a tear

A paradise free from terror
That's how it was way back then
But now all that had changed
It won't be the same again

My heart cries for the locals
Friendly faces I remember well
For this tragedy will cripple them
They've been through a living hell

Many Australians are among the victims
Our world's become a frightening place
Nobody is immune from terrorism
No matter what your race

* * * *

I heard this morning that 200 people have died
so far and the death toll is rising. One
victim died on the plane on the way back
home to Australia. Will the world ever recover
from these acts of terrorism and will
images of peace and freedom merely become
figments of our imagination?I am frightened
for my daughter and for all mankind as we
are plunged further into the dark and evil
world of terrorism. Will the world ever be
safe again?

I am in motion
I am blue
Love is an ocean
I'm anchored in you

It is just horrible. The world is just so filled with stories like this, acts of unspeakable terror. A great, heart-felt write Sue.

Suetang - it bothers me also. Are there answers? I'm not sure, but it just seems to get worse. Take care, and be safe...

Sue, a very nice poem, my friend.  Like you, I worry about the world my own child is inheriting.  *hugs*

Yes, Sue, my thoughts have been with all of you throughout the day as I mentioned to another PiP member earlier this morning that this tragedy had struck your part of the world.  Please know, you and all of our poet friends over there are in our thoughts and prayers...

Dear Sue:  A heart breaking story and everyone has been reading about it and feeling the sadness of so many.  You ask good questions, but I'm not sure anyone, except God, has the answers. I guess we just have to go on with our lives and keep our faith strong.

Sue~ Another sad reality carried out by terrorists.
Why did it have to begin?
When will it all end?
This war against terrisiom we must win!
Stay safe...Paul

Sad that you lost a piece of your paradise.
Sad that this is the way the world is headed.
Some places are safer than others.
Take care...James
