He watched her from across the room
breathing in her beauty and grace,
oh how he longed to hold her
and dreamed she could fill his empty space.

He admired her from a distance
and desired her heart to share,
he wished that he could tell her
just how much it is that he cared.

He will never tell her these things
he'll just go home all alone,
for in his heart he feels
she'd never want to be a part of his home.

So he turned and strolled away
and he slowly walked out the door
and the smile she wore faded from her lips,
she thought that this would be the night...
oh she was so sure.

Silent love is such a tragedy
when two hearts aren't made aware,
that the desire of the other
is the same as that which is wanted to share.

If I have touched one heart through my words, then I have acheived my dream...

(big hugggssssss) Oh Donna, I know this feeling ever so well, sweet friend, it saddens me when someone is so scared that he or she would make a fool of him or herself when expressing love to another and before one knows it it is too late! (sad sigh) This is well-expressed, sweet friend, I hope you never had to experience that, God Bless You, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Donna, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Sweet Noah, this was totally imaginary and didn't happen but I know that these things do and find such sadness in the thought of someone missing love because they are afraid........Hey....I was always taught to go with your heart.....
Thank you Noah.

If I have touched one heart through my words, then I have acheived my dream...

I liked this, creative and insightful even though it didn't happen.

I could feel how each of them felt.
Nice.

Donna, this is so very real..even though
imaginary to you...and I am tickled that
it is....Imagine how many couples have
experienced this loss because of anxiety
and being afraid to just simply ask...

Oh, yes...there is no pain like that of unrequited love, I think.  And most of us just aren't brave enough to make that first move, because of the fear of rejection. This is a very poignant write, and one that I enjoyed very much.....

Pen how you truly feel...
it is a safety-valve for the soul!

Donna, I could feel the compassion that you had while writing this poem. I'm really glad that it was imaginary, though, and didn't really happen to you. These situations are so sad to me. Just think of how much the two people miss out on because of fear. Thanks for sharing.

What a beautiful yet sad write Donna.
Every moment we spend with the one we love is so precious.
When we know we love that person we should speak up...
...soon enough that moment will be gone forever.

This poem inspired much comment...seems to have revived a few memories of lost opportunities...perhaps our heart should be more willing to take chances...I recently stepped forward and made my feelings known to wonderful woman...and surprisingly she expressed the same desire...my life is so much brighter....her light shines in my heart

...believe what your heart feels.....

Silent love, so how we fear rejection and in the process lose what might have been, only to fantasize, to dream, to do without.   A most excellent write, Donna.  Your poem makes me "think" and I so love it when a poem does that for me.  Thank you, my friend.   *hugs*

Words unspoken can ofttimes bring about more pain than the ones that are uttered.

Poignant and gently expressed as always!
