The sound of newborn wings nested
among the great oak’s leaves hidden
from the fangs of prey.

Small, fragile and hungry, awaiting
the relief of a worm dangled above.
Huddled together, silent cries
with mouths agape, in wait...

O but to be the creator of this
wonder of nature in a cycle never
ending, always turning full circle
to the next brown wiggling worm.

As Spring does bring the babes
of earth to the nest of sticks.
So shall Winter take away those
most fragile that others survive.

Were I but this featherless pawn
might I huddle among the pieces
of the board of life’s chess game.
That I might again share the worm.

Or, upon the dawn of first flight,
the first rush of wing filled air.
Might I return to this one nest..
To breed, to protect, to share.

Ever the life-cycle, and we only get to go around once...or, do we?

Liked this much. And, I  hope you get to go around forever, each a new experience.

Warmly,
Pat

(smiles) Oh Barry, I just love this, sweet friend, I love doves so much and they are symbolic and inspiring to me of the message of peace they bring and the leaves they hold in their beaks, this is delightful, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

This is beautiful, Barry...
We have a pair of doves that comes to our bird feeder all the time... and the male is so protective of the female... so sweet
