Drifting Off To Nether Lands

Peaceful night, surround my vision,
Wrap me 'neath your blanket fair;
Clear me from this day's derision …
Comfort me, from my despair.

Grace me with forgotten pleasure,
Weave a wondrous fantasy;
Fill my sleep with endless treasure
Sheltered in your reverie.

Tempt me with the dreams you render,
Tease me with forbidden wants;
Safely held in careless splendor
As I soar within your taunts.

Cloak me in your sweet dimension,
Far beyond reality;
Past this futile world's contention
Where I dwell in misery.

Wake me not, from all you proffer,
Grant me this release, I plead;
Lest I rise from all you offer,
Waking to this life I bleed.

Dark of night, console my being,
Drift me off to nether lands;
That I may take comfort knowing
Some relief from life's demands.

Kit you have blown me over with this. And how I wish I was under my puff on this dank, drizzly day in New England.

I always look forward to your works. Magnificent.

Hugs, Marti

Yay!!! Awwwwwww, I know this feeling ever so much, sweet friend, I just wish I could dream all day and imagine I'm holding my Joanna close to my heart and showing her happy worlds where only love and dolphins and mermaids and lephrechauns and all wonderful things exist! (kiss on cheek) This is gorgeous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Kit, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

I've always loved these treasures you bring to us in your writing.  Splendid, Kit!

You know, Kit, anymore I only read the poetry and respond directly to it, rather than reading all of the other wonderful responses that I am sure I am adding to.  The flow of this is wonderful, the cadence is relaxing, and you've gotten me one step further to calling it a night, and my muse just hit!  Remind me never to read you until it IS time to turn down the lights, okay?

Thank you for this gift, my friend...

Kit, you almost got me leaping to my feet there by that title.
Thought you was planning to visit me LOL

But then I realized you were just dozing off in some peaceful unconsious state of mind.

Beautiful poem friend, but....if you wanna change your mind...there's always a place for you here. You might have to sleep with the sheep, but who cares

Thank you Sharon ... and thank you for the lullibye reference ... that was lovely to hear!  I'm afraid the contents are indeed, taken from the pages of my book of life. I wrote it last Wednesday after yet another trying day. I've been having an awfully hard time coping of late.  Sigh ... at least writing helps, eh?  Thanks again.

Much appreciation,

Kit,
I needed that prescription. Alas, my sleep is fleeting. Such a soothing write. Wonderful as usual. Hope things improve. Peace and courage to you friend.

I don't know how I missed this one, but I'm sure
glad I stumbled across it tonight.
This is absolutely gorgeous and reads like a gentle song.
It's always such a treat to read you, Kit.
Your talent is as big as your heart, and that's pretty huge.
I hope things are starting to calm down for you a bit.
