Sunshine...you should understand where I got this
inspiration from....  Thank You...

Though a stranger, trust was given
as trust is given to the hand taken in
a life’s walk down a perilous road.

This trust, known only within the senses,
cannot be explained, for one must
feel before the exchange is made.

I trust that what is given will be protected
as is the gold of the world, so is the
word written from the soul, in hopes
that one might know who they are.

I trust that words written from one’s heart,
penned in the hour of darkness and silence,
shall be the most earnest gift that I, this
mortal and humble man can give..

My quest, through this trust....simply put...
to know, understand and feel within that I
might feel the title of the
most simple word...

Yet, this word....this title...carries within it
a lofty perch where one can place themselves
during those silent hours...that they might
be able to write the feel of that word...might
experience the emotions of being what
one’s life is all about....

About....being called, feeling...that no
matter the meaningless of the words...
No matter the criticism...

That one feels and writes with the
flame of a passionate pen, the lust of
the words that echo through the mind
searching for the next most true
statement...  To know one's self to be...

A Poet.....

Magnus,

Thanks for writing this. Sometimes I think that I write too much from a very personal perspective and too self indulgently. I sometimes feel that "this is getting old", "get on with it woman" I tell myself.
Your poem reassures me and reminds me to be discriminating, which can be a good thing.Excellent write.
Thanks
SG

Magnus...This poem expresses most clearly what it is that makes a poet...a poet. It is that which comes from within that breathes out words that sing, inspire and soar. That's what your poem did for me.  ***Ivy Rose

..able to write the ~feeling~ of that word...

~the lust of the words~ that echo through the mind....

I enjoyed this. And, this being the case then I shall call myself a poet.

Thanks for this powerful piece.
It is lodged somewhere between my heart and my soul.

Warmly, Pat

(smiles) Oh Barry, I can tell which one of her poem series inspired this, this is wonderful and after reading her series and her footnotes I am intersted in reading more of Riley's words that reflect this introspective piece! (big huggggsssss) BRAVO, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Barry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Barry...A very thought provoking poem.
To trust and share with others somthing so precious as words from your heart is the untimate trust to me because our hearts never lie...Paul

I really liked this part

I trust that what is given will be protected
as is the gold of the world, so is the
words written from the soul, in hopes
that one might know who they are.

I trust that words written from one’s heart,
penned in the hour of darkness and silence,
shall be the most earnest gift that I, this
mortal and humble man can give.
