I like waking up early
and listening to the quiet,
when moonlight's gone
but, dawn is still blanketed
by darkness.

This hour of solitude
is free time,
my very own day.

I can think without distractions
and, start tomorrows plans,
but usually, I don't do that at all
Instead I use
these precious moments
only for me.

The concentration of aloneness
is thick with no responsibility.
I can talk to me and
learn of what I am,
or, what I want to be.

Just me and me,
we share this special time
together and let in no one else.
I use this space so selfishly
and grin at anyone
who says they can't find time alone.

As daybreak beckons me,
I fill up on energy from my soul
and it prepares me for activity
that too often tries to bury me
in other people's dreams.

Yes, this is my time,
the nurturing of only me.
