Hand Crafted
By Larry Chadwick
I had one of my poems illustrated, printed and elegantly framed for my wife. This is about that process.

Not crafted with my hands,
But done all in my mind.
Searching in the depths,
Hoping the right words to find.

Prose found here and there,
Checking with my muse.
Selecting the best thoughts,
That I might properly use.

I may not have built a house,
But I have crafted so much more.
Done all with ideas and phrases,
Proving by love that we aren’t poor.

Someone else fabricated the walls,
I wrote the poem that hang there.
A tribute to our lasting love,
Written history of what we share.

An art that is fragile,
But will live indefinitely.
A testament of our oath,
Committed sacramentally.

It is only paper and ink,
But represents far more.
It comes from deep inside,
Love expressed in metaphor.

I really adore this one, Larry...
and I love your idea also...
I just made a bunch of my poems into a book for my mother... and she really loves it.

Larry...A beautiful gift and dedication of love i'm sure your wife will treasure forever.
I did the same thing for my wife 3 years ago at Christmas time, it was the very first poem I ever wrote and she said it was the greatest gift she had ever received...Paul

Lyra,
It was the scariest I had ever felt giving a gift. It was rather expensive and I was uncertain of the response. She loved it. What a relief. A friend of mine did and origianl illustration for it. Anyway when all was done I was glad I had the courage to do it.

Paul,
Cool. I was amazed at how fun it was to do. Thanks.

Karilea,
As I treasure many of yours too. Thank you dear friend.

Linda,
Such flattery! And thank you kind lady.

Sue,
What a nice thing to say! And thank you as always.

Magnus,
And you write poetry that would be perfect. Go for it! Thanks sir.

Marge,
Except for the fear factor, I concur. Thanks.

Noah,
How perfect. Good for you that was great. And thank you kind sir.

MM,
Such kind words. Thank you! Winter is coming...you may want to come back.

Ivy Rose,
If you have the courage. Thank you and I agree.

Larry, this is so beautiful.... such a beautiful dedication of love and devotion to your wife. I know that she loved it. A gift from the heart is so sweet and loving. The poems and songs that my Gary writes for me are more special to me than all the material things in the world.....because I know they come from way down deep in his heart. Thanks for sharing with us.
With Love To All,
Ethel....garysgirl

Ethel,
You're the best. Thank you for that. And I have seen here the exact things you describe about your gifts from Gary.
