As the holidays aproach, the weather starts to change.
A hole's deep through my heart,it'll never be the same.
It hasn't been that long ago, since you had to go away.
It's all that I can do at times,to get through lonely days.

There are no more celebrations, that you and I can share.
I always took for granted, that you would be right there.
Everyday I said I loved you, still it wasn't said enough.
And knowing I can't be with you, sure has made it tough.

As I watch people getting ready,to celebrate this year.
It's all that I can do to smile, and hold back all the tears.
I still bring you pretty things, but I place them by your stone.
And I visit you alot, cause you never liked to be alone.

If someone said I could bring you back,I would have yesterday.
I would be right by your side, you couldn't make me go away.
You fought the battle for so long, and always wore a smile.
You gave me everything you had,you made my life worthwhile.

You were more than just MY MAMA,you were my best friend.
And I could never regret one moment,of time with you I spent.
You always did your best,to take good care of me.
It's you I give the credit, though others may not see.

So this holiday season,I will try to get through.
And I'll be remembering, the time I spent with you.
I love you my mama, and I miss you so much.
Soon you can hold me,I need mamas touch.

Thank you Nancy for your reply. This has been the hardest year of my life.Just since April, our home was hit by a tornado,we had no ins. and I lost my mama,(my best friend).
Poetry is what has kept me here.I love to read and write it.

Welcome to your new home away from home! You are among kindred spirits and it really is like one great, big family!

What a lovely poem to grace these blue pages with. Sorry to hear of your losses during the past year--your Mama and your home (no insurance? oh, my gawd!) Well, you'll get lots of support here at Passions and you can just pour your heart out--we'll listen!

I'm looking forward to reading more of your postings!

Sending you warm hugs,

Earth Angel

Welcome to Pip. You have written a lovely poem. As I read it the melody from a song written for "Aida" (Elton Johns version) came to mind. This is a lovely tribute. Looking forward to more.
