~

My baby awakes at the break of dawn
Kicks off her blankets with a hearty yawn
Her tiny fingers reach out for her rattle
As she murmurs and coos a baby's prattle
Then quietly I tip-toe in
She greets me with a silly grin
I change and bathe her good as new
She smiles at me with eyes so blue
I take her to the rocking chair
And comb her wispy, golden hair
As she sits upon my knee
The joy I feel means more to me
Tnan all the riches in the world
This love I have for my baby girl
My breast she takes so eagerly
Again she is a part of me
The warmth of love we share as one
Moments to cherish 'til my days are done
I thank the Lord for blessing me
With life and love and my baby

~

Denise--

Good morning! I see you have these precious memories as well! As my daughters were growing up, I'd think to myself that every age and stage was my favorite. But when I look back, the closeness I felt when they were babies, was extra special.

~ Enjoy the rest of your W/E! ~

Oh Linda, I know just how you feel!! They grow up so quickly! I think that all the stages are my favorites too, or at least I did...Rebecca is getting a bit too big for her britches here lately (she'll be 11 soon), but of course I still cherish and love her. Charles however is the joy of my life! Not because I love him more, for that is just not so, but because he is still a baby. There is something soooo special in the complete trust and unconditional love of a baby, be it boy or girl. I'm truly going to miss it when he's too big for my lap anymore...sigh...oh well, I know they must grow up...at least we keep our memories..
Thanks for sharing this one Linda.

Yes,  they are a treasure,  even through
the terrible twos,  the more terrible
threes,  the fearsome fours and fiery fives..  so forth and so on...until they
get old enough to ask when they can drive
the car....That is terror!!!!

This is a beautiful write Linda...Thank You

This is so tender, absolutely beautiful, Linda.  I used to love my son's toothless smile when he was a baby.  He weighed 10 pounds and an ounce when he was born, was the biggest baby in the maternity ward. LOL

the earth will turn on as before,

How much I miss that closeness with my three who are now all grown up. The times when they were just little pumpkins holds the most wonderful memories for me and my Hon.

This got me all nostalgic today...

Thanks for the great write, Marti

Linda, I love this poem. It's so sweet. Even though my only child is grown whith her own family (I won't mention her age), she will be my  BABY  as long as I live. I used to embarrass her in her teenage years when I would introduce her to people at work as "my little girl". She's always hated for me to brag on her, too. But, now that her kids are getting older, I've noticed that she's just like me about them. Thanks for sharing this, sweet lady.

This poem is also special for me for reasons other than the obvious. It was the first poem Of mine that was ever published. I can still remember that thrill as if it were yesterday!
