I have no memories of Halloween
As long as I live I've never seen
Celebration of Halloween in real
Can you imagine how I feel?

This time of year I see you all
Preparing for the Halloween ball
I feel locked out, a bit you know
No Halloween ball for me to go

I don't even know when Halloween is
Only know this feast I'll miss
I'll just sit here alone, at my pc
No, there was never Halloween for me

But I enjoy those scary poems
And I see pumpkins in your homes
Carved to faces, lit with a candle
Oh I would love that knife to handle

I'm not sad, so please don't pity me
Because in my mind with you I'll be
I'll hop from door to door that night
Just in spirit, enjoying the sight

Like scattered leaves...my words will flow

Titia,
no halloween for us either, but I have enjoyed the decorations as much as I enjoyed this poem.

Here in the midst of my lonely abyss, a single joy I find...your presence in my mind.  Unknown

Titia darling heart this is wonderful as you know I adore your writing, YOU have such talent. Halloween isn't the big event in England as it is in the U.S. but I absolutely love the decorations that we have seen here.

Love and warm hugs darling heart I hope the surgery went well

Love and warm stuff
as always
Mushy

Breathe through the heat of our desire
Thy coolness and they balm
Let sense be dumb let flesh retire
Speak through the earthquake wind and fire

(big hugggsssssss) Oh Titia, we all understand, sweet friend, I guess Halloween just isn't popular in the U.K as it is in the U.S but you are always cordially invited to party with us all anytime! (sigh) This is heartfelt, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Titia, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

Halloween has always been the one supposed holiday that I detest. When my kids were little it was fun, but the moment they became 10 or 11, that's when the trouble started.

Tears over costumes and what to wear, not wanting us to go with them, wanting to walk for miles with pillow cases filled to the brim with enough candy to open a store. And then the boys became mid-teens and I fretted the whole night worrying whether they would get themselves into mischief.

And to this day if we put pumpkins on our steps, they get stolen and smashed. Grrr.....baaa-Halloween.

I would much rather sit at my computer than deal with the foolishness of it.

Ah Smartchick, we'll write each other poems then

Noah, maybe someday I'll come celebrate Halloween with you

Marti, I know what you are talking about, same here with Carnaval

Charisma, I'm so glad to see you back, yes we have Sint Maarten and I think the pumkins are slowly taken over this country too, but it will never be the same.

Marge, I'll be the witch in black
And I'll disguise you as my knuffelsack
On my broom we'll fly through the night
Oh dear that should be a lovely sight LOL

Muchos knuffels lady,

Titia

Titia - if you were here, I would take you out for Halloween. Dress up in costumes, see the sights of the scary night...

I agree with Bill, Titia...
If only I had realized that you, Marsha, Krissy and Keth had never celebrated Halloween, we could have arranged a Halloween party in Florida for you... costumes and all!!!
I have always loved Halloween but thats probably because I am a witch....

Titia,
I'm the scrooge of halloween. Bah Hum Bug. I'd rather do candy year round! Cute write.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Lol @ Lyra.
I've always liked Halloween, too.  A holiday with only the pretext of candy.  What more could you ask for?

You are all too kind, but I'll watch you from here.

Still don't know when Halloween is LOL
Maybe it's the same date as our Sint Maarten on November 6th? Then the kids go 'round the neighbourhood with a song and collect candy.
But....that's only for kids.
They would put me in the nuthouse if I should do that

I don't do Halloween, so I'll be missing it too, but I will be giving out candy to all of the little monsters knocking on my door.

I missed the decorations
I guess that says it all
there were no celebrations
for this Cinderella's ball

I missed the children crying
for candy in the street
I missed those scary costumes
and the tramp of tiny feet

I missed the song and dancing
of pumpkin carved delight
I even missed the pacing
of parents on that night

I missed the celebrations
and missed the goblin's call
but I held the hand of friendship
so I think I gained it all.

Titia, have you never celebrated St. Maarten? See that kid in the back with a louder mouth than the others and a wee bit taller too?

Dutch Halloween

St. Maarten is our Halloween
11th next month kids come by
All scolding 'round they shall be seen
Dare not a soul refuse to buy

11th next month kids come by
For sweets with truly awful face
Dare not a soul refuse to buy
With loud noise and determined pace

For sweets with truly awful face
They haunt you down feeding your fears
With loud noise and determined pace
It's best you cover up your ears

They haunt you down feeding your fears
Hand over all the treats you have
It's best you cover up your ears
They'll sing to you until you're deaf

Hand over all the treats you have
'Cause when you dare refuse, "Oh my"
They'll sing to you until you're deaf
Skinflint ! Devils come out and cry!

'Cause when you dare refuse, "Oh my"
All scolding 'round they will be seen
Skinflint ! Devils come out and cry !
St. Maarten is our Halloween.

Ah Munda, yes I know St. Maarten, the kids always had a row afterwards over the sweets they got, but still it's a kid's game...it's not quite comparable with the celebration of Halloween in the States.

Thank you for your beautiful St. Maarten poem.

Titia,

You're not missing much, really.
Don't feel too bad....
I've e-mailed you a few things about halloween that might make
you change your mind.
Sad to say, your not missing much.
