somebody's dungeon

Perhaps, it's more than this
that I miss, I think.
while reflecting upon
the sunset of Delaware
that was so vivid that night.
How we watched the slow descent,
with catch of breath.
Each of us silent, and
seeing more of the sunset
in each other, than that
which was ablaze in the sky.

I remember the tiny rest area
a haven on the side of the road
in Connecticut, wares of apple design
lined the walls and shelves, so quaint
and you were patient, allowing me
time, just to browse.

How we laughed at ourselves at times
ignorant of the customs
of the who and where we were
on any given day. An amusement
to the local folk that always
made you seem like a little boy
unable to show sophistication.
This a thorn in your side but
a source of endearment to me.
The wall was down just then.

I'm still beside myself looking
for the film of all the memories.
The mountains of Utah, colors
bright, almost impossible of spectrum
for mere rocks. The horses
on the other side of the fence
hungry for the grass they could
not reach. You were a picture
of calm feeding and petting.
My heart was warmed just then.
The film I'm sure will turn up
what a picture album they'll make.

I guess in the end, it is the whole
of you I miss. The experience made special
in the sharing, of not just the world
we saw, but the view of it through your
eyes.

I miss the man, the touch, the feel
the color upon remembrance of mind
an image forever of two, not one.

Yanno what?  Women are very complex.  I wonder if other men have discovered this.  The poem, incidently, is beautiful.

Very heartfelt write. Well done. Chris

A very soft, tender poem about remembering a love like no other.  Your words are like well-springs of yearning. Wonderful poem!!!!

(big hugggssssss) Such yearning and tears fill your words, sweet friend, I hope this doesn't relate to the now and that now you share a golden promising sunrise each day with your love! (sigh) This is gorgeous, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Anne, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,

The image of two, the soul of one.  I know this feeling.  A very tender write from your heart.
