Vision Quest Level 6

I stood ~

Totally unaware of the importance
of this sundial
casting a shadow
of knowledge
at the base of itself

realizing ~

the transparent words
being read
at the toes of today's journal
were being written
in the pen of me

Standing ~

in awe
of nothing ...
nothing more than myself
and the power encased
in the recesses
of my spirit
hiding in the freedom
that I have sought

Smiling ~

Relishing in the knowledge
that I have been casting
the ripples of disturbance
in my own pond
of cleansing ...
watching them dance
over my quested peace
and never once
reaching out
to calm the pool of desire

Bowing ~

Giving thanks
to our maker
for turning my eyes
to the shadow
of myself
resting in the sundial
of my spirit
as I gazed into your eyes
and found myself
pedestaled
in the embrace of you

Mark Christopher

The journey will come full circle when we are granted the insight and clarity to see ourselves beyond the shadows and to step into our own light...to see both our weakness and our strengths, and do so without fear or vanity...When we can look at ourselves that honestly and find both humanity and humilty -- it is then that the higher level of healing and awareness comes.
It's obvious from this beautifully poetic, sincere exploration of self discovery that you were granted that view and found the answers that allow your journey to continue.

Take it from one who has many times stood in awe of the power of your spirit ... from one who has found her own healing and clarity when I was so fortunate that your ripples intersected mine ... from one who has many times given thanks for the gift of your presence in my life-- enjoy the view MC ... trust me my oh so enlightening friend....you shine.

These images were so real, so vividly easy to see as I read them.
Not that I've read even a small fraction of your poetry, Mark...but I think I like this best of what I have read.  Love the title, too.  That's what got my attention.
(Btw...going to visit a tiger at an animal refuge next week.  Don't think I'll get that close though...lol.)

Wash your spirit clean
Give away the things you don't need
Let it all go and you'll soon see.

Go and pray upon a mountain
Go and pray beside the ocean

Be grateful for the struggle
Be thankful for the lessons
And you'll wash your spirit clean

Mark...As I read this, it reminded me of the beautiful and sacred connection of the Native Americans with their Creator...Wankan Tanka. I felt as though I was on a journey...yes, a quest to know myself through the Creator's eyes. EXCELLENT POEM!!!

the_loner_23-To go into your library is a compliment and I thank you for that.

Donna-To find ones own spirit and even come close to understanding can only be found deep inside and I am glad you realize this. Thank you so very much for taking the time to leave such a wonderful reply.  It is nice to know how a poem affects someone who reads it and you have given me that pleasure so I thank you again.

SmartChick-Thank you

Charisma-I just love it when you smile. Thank you for your always wonderful visits.

Sunshine- I don't know that there is a perfect in any form of art but I do thank you for that and your thoughts.

Irie-I am glad you noticed that.  Thank you much.

Nightshade-Chris if you found it good enough to put into your library then I am truely honored and I thank you much.

Noah-Yes He does and you are so very right in all you say.  Thank you kind sir for both the comments and your level of understanding.

Enchantress-Thank you for always stopping by with smiles and your comments on my works.  You never fail to leave a smile.

JM-You already know how much it pleases me to see you on your own path of self realization and to know that you see and understand mine as well is more meaningful to me than words can express but I don't think you need me to express them in words do you?  Thank you my bestest friend for always taking the time to notice, to learn, and to lend support as I grow within myself and the lessons of life.

Balladeer-Thank you so much for that wonderful comment.  You are much to kind sir.

Duncan-To see the images in words is always the first step and to feel them is the higher one.  Thank you much for letting me know which parts hit home the best.  As for the tiger......have fun and take the chance on a close encounter if it comes to you.  You never want to pass up an opportunity that may never come around again.

Gemini-Wow.....thank you dearly for that awesome reply.

JM-Leave it to you to find a pic that goes with my favorite Walela song so well.  Hugs to you.

Ivy Rose-If you could see my smile right now then you would know how much it please me to find someone who truely sees where all this is from.  Thank you so much for that and for your wonderful reply.

Lighthousebob-Your visits always lend me not only a smile but a peaceful comfort and I thank you for taking the time to read and leave your thoughts.  Seeking for oneself in the embrace of His own children is only one tool at our disposal but it sure makes the journeys all that much more sweet.

Cher-Thank you so very much for leaving your perspective and isn't it expected to find the unique in a piece that is birthed through the realms of an individual as we all carry that uniqueness about us.  Always a treat for me to find your name here.

Bill Charles-It is the only way to truely go through life.  Thank you much.

Mark~
Hello there, my cowboy friend.
I decided to go hunting for buried treasures
tonight and sure enough I found one.
This is absolutely gorgeous, Mark, and it is
so full of the heart and spirit that it you.
This is definately one of my favorites from your pen,
and I'm very glad I found it tonight.
I hope all is well with you, my friend.
I wish you the best in everything.

I don't know how I missed this before, except I think I was standing on the beaches of Maui when you posted it...I'm so glad that Vicky brought it back, and at just the right time for me.  Your vision has given me inspiration, my friend, to look at my own shadow.

He misses everyone and hopes that "life" will allow him more time to be here soon.
