Through staccato breaths
And smoke-tainted air
I see the world for what it is

I choose to no longer
Shut out the truth of the universe
At which we are sentenced to live in
Until we lay at rest on our death bed

I take a long drag...

I no longer see beauty
But now war and violence
Overwhelming the population
Turning all against everything

The shot of vodka in my hand...

Sighing, I look out the window
Reliving life as it once was
I walk to the door and close my eyes
Taking a deep breath of air through the screen door

A tear slowly forms...

I am done pretending I’m something
That truly I am not
I gain my composure for the third time this week
And claim this will now be the end

I hit it again...

...until next week...*

"In life you must dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening and love like it's never going to hurt..."
