I believe him. Does that make me naive? stupid? blind to what stares me in the face, only I don't want to see? Do people snicker behind my back? Do people gossip to one another? "He doesn't love her!" "He always lies to her!" "Why does she believe him???" Well, here is what I say to that: Do you see the way his eyes gleam when he tells me that he loves me? Do you feel the way he kisses me and the whole world just disappears? Do you see the way he cries to me when I tell him of his accusers? Do you feel the way he caresses me whenever we make love? I didn't think so... You don't know him the way that I know him ...the man he REALLY is Jealousy and greed discolor your vision to make you think things that didn't happen. No one cares for our happiness. No one blesses the fact that we are in love. Envy spreads across the schoolyard... "She's completely insane..." "He doesn't love her, why can't she see..." But it's YOU that does not see... For I see clearly and what you think is reality is but an illusion that you so terribly wish to be true but it's not... and there is no other way to tell you this... I BELIEVE HIM! For his eyes tell me as they stare into my soul... For his tears tell me as they gently trace his cheekbone... For his words tell me as if with desperation to be heard...* "In life you must dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening and love like it's never going to hurt..." |

"Jealousy and greed discolor your vision to make you think things that didn't happen." This is an awesome piece of poetry. The structure and format of the poem was original, and the blank verse worked well with the portrayal of the story here. Don't ever listen to anything outside of your heart chambers. If you see it, then no one else has to. Thanks for sharing this with us.
