Jump

There is an adventure awaiting me!!
One of terror, and excitement!
High into the great unknown I'll sore,
where my fear will dissapear when I let myself go.

Now falling, spinning, and screaming,
my adrennalin is rushing.
My heart's pounding and my palms sweating.

Faster and faster falling,
yet now growing less and less afraid.
My fear now leaving as the rush sets in
taking over body and mind.

People are that of ants,
and the ground but a scale model.
If I were any closer only then would I be scared,
cause then I'd be close enough to have a reason.

In just an instant
my fall has slowed to that of a feather,
and I float back to solid ground.
Now I'm no longer afraid,
and I'll long for another...jump!

skydiving, huh...cool...if I didn't know any better, I'd say this was a metaphor.  Had it been, it would have been a great one.  But the vaguesness allows us to ponder that meaning.

Be it in the truest form, or a desperate lack thereof, fail not to understand that the inspiration is love.

I have often had dreams that I was falling, and, when I'd wake up, feeling as though I've slammed into my body. So I know how that feels. A good poem can reach out to everyone, and everyone knows what it is like to fall.
